This can be a tough one because the two phones are looking great with modern design and display. Just as mentioned above, the Vivo Y83 comes with a beautiful design both on the back and front. The notch on the front is one of the features you won’t find on the Samsung Galaxy J8.

But still, I will gladly pick the Galaxy J8 for personal reasons. First I don’t just fancy notch, and second, the Vivo Y83 apparently lack fingerprint scanner. Though it has Face ID which will replace the fingerprint scanner but I can’t trust that feature especially at night. So the Galaxy J8 is my pick.

The Vivo Y83 is built with Aluminium alloy and Glass with dimensions of 155.21 mm x 75.24 mm x 7.7 mm and it weighs 150 gram while the later feature Polycarbonate measuring 75.8 mm x 160 mm x 7.95 mm and weighs 145 grams. As you can see, the Samsung Galaxy J8 is also a lightweight device.

Both phones are available in three colors variant. The Vivo Y83 has White, Black, and Red colors variant while to the Samsung Galaxy J8 is shipped in Blue, Black, and Gold colors.

On display, the Samsung Galaxy J8 is also winning with a Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen on the 6.0 inches screen. It has 1480 x 720 Pixels resolution and 274 pixels per inch density.

While the Vivo Y83 comes with a larger screen size of 6.22 inches and a resolution of 1520 x 720 Pixels. It packs a screen display of IPS, LCD capacitive touchscreen with 270 pixels per inch density.

There is an impressive snapper of 16 Megapixels with F1.9 Aperture and LED Flash on the front of the Galaxy J8 while the Vivo Y83 has 8 Megapixels with F2.2 Aperture, and Face Recognition selfie snapper. You won’t find Face ID on the Galaxy J8 just as you won’t find fingerprint scanner on the Vivo Y83 smartphone.

Both phones are powered by Android 8.1 Oreo operating system with inbuilt memory of 64GB, which is expandable up to 256GB using a micro SD card. The Samsung Galaxy J8 has a battery capacity of 3500mAh which will last longer than the 3260mAh on the Vivo Y83. Thanks to the quick charge technology that will fasten the process when charging the phones.
