Xperia Play 2 – Sony will launch a PlayStation Phone?

It was in 2011 that Sony Ericsson launched the Xperia Play. It was definitely an excellent idea. The first and only time that this manufacturer launched a gaming smartphone. Today, behold, a model called Sony Ericsson Xperia Play 2 appeared in China. This device known as the PlayStation Phone was only on demonstration and is not for sale. At least for a while

The Xperia Play 2 photos arrive from the XDA JerryYin element. According to him, the PlayStation Phone that is being demonstrated is a prototype of the Xperia Play 2.

Looking at the images we realize that this equipment has some similarities with the previous version. The buttons and the trackpad are practically the same, but with some improvements. However, the small touchpad in the middle is a replacement for the joystick. This device is a kind of PSP and can run a wide variety of games.

In addition, the images reveal that the device will have two buttons at the top. One L and another R. That is, the one on the left and the one on the right. It also has a slot for SD and SIM cards. This smartphone comes with a camera and an LED flash. However, on the bottom left we see the Sony Ericsson logo and on the other side the Xperia brand.

Compared to Xperia Play, the screen is more square and there were changes in the buttons. That said, it adds a camera, touch buttons, and a 3D designation.

This model may never arrive

According to XDA, this project is not active. If this is true, then this equipment may never reach the market. On the other hand, the nine-year-old Xperia Play is obviously obsolete. Therefore, a successor would not be a bad idea.

It is true that Sony may not have much interest in smartphones. Despite this, the gaming market is booming. As such a bet on this segment may be a good idea.
