Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact are listed on the FCC, next to a third device

Sony has not yet confirmed the release date of the new Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact in the United States, but the devices have already received authorization from the FCC to be marketed in the country. In fact, the American body has listed three models of Sony, and one of them may be the unannounced Xperia XZ2 Pro (or Premium).

The Sony smartphones listed have IDs PY7-24118Q , PY7-21831A and PY7-00718V , the first being the compact model, while the second is the 5.7 “screen. The mystery remains for the third device, which is speculated to be the version that ended up being left out of the presentation at MWC18, whose release was postponed to a date yet to be revealed.

About the two models already released, we’ve talked a lot here. Sony adopted the 18 – 9 aspect ratio for the screens, with a slim-edge design, curved back and great grip. They are in pre-order in Europe where some retailers offer a PlayStation 4 gift for buyers in that period. The launch is scheduled for April 6.

As for the third model, we can only talk about rumors. There is no way to tell if this is really the Xperia XZ2 Pro, since the FCC only lists the ID and types of connectivity that are released, in addition to the product brand.

Before Mobile World Congress, the company had announced that it would launch “three Xperia models” at the fair, in addition to a surprise. Sony’s presentation included the XZ2, the XZ2 Compact and the Ear Duo. Something was missing, right? There were four ads, after all.

We will have to wait a little longer to find out what the mysterious Sony product is, which has received authorization from the FCC along with the company’s already announced models. But perhaps it is better not to have much hope – by looking closely at the IDs of the listed products, the third is quite different from the other two. It may just be the Xperia Ear Duo headset.

So, what do you think, dear reader?

  1. I hope it will feature the dual sensors they’ve shown at MWC…
I’m also a bit intrigued by the design, wait and see!
