ZTE Nubia Z18 Review – 24 MP Camera, 128GB Storage, Price and Full Specs

Earlier in the month of April 2018, ZTE unveiled a smartphone called ZTE Nubia Z18 mini. Now in the month of September 2018, the company is gearing up to release a flagship called ZTE Nubia Z18. As the name suggests, there are a few areas where this new device is ‘bigger’ than its predecessor.

Let’s analyze the full specifications of ZTE Nubia Z18 in this review and see how it matches up to other mid-range smartphones in 2024.

Design and Display

Let’s start with ZTE Nubia Z18 body analysis. The device has 148.6 x 72.6 x 8.6 mm and weighs up to 172 grams. Display type for the ZTE Nubia Z18 is LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen available in 16 million colors just like its peers. There’s the multi-touch feature, the Corning Gorilla Glass 3, and the Nubia UI 6.0 to boost protection for ZTE Nubia Z18.

Nubia Z18 is 5.99 inches wide device and has a screen resolution of 1080 x 2160 of 18:9 aspect ratio, and 403 ppi density. For its peers, this a big challenge as this device is a bit higher in some respects. The device comes in black, red and starry night.

Camera Setup

The main camera is a massive 24 MP f/1.6, OIS, dual pixel PDAF 16 MP f/1.6 AF. Something is really spectacular here. The special features for these lenses are that they are capable Dual-LED dual-tone flash, HDR, and panorama. The video features include 2160p@30 fps and 1080p@ 30 fps respectively.

For the selfie camera to the front, it has 8 MP f/2.0 HDR features camera that you can be proud to use for selfies with your friends. The video output for this selfie camera is also up 1080p @ 30 fps.

There are multiple sensors on ZTE Nubia Z18, and they are as follows – Fingerprint (to the rear), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.

Hardware and Storage

ZTE Nubia Z18 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo, with Qualcomm SDM845 Snapdragon 845. The CPU is Octa-core while the GPU is Adreno 630. That is another area where the device is higher than its predecessor. It comes in two variants of 128GB of 8GB RAM or 64G of 6GB RAM. Sorry, no microSD card allowed on this device.

Network and Connectivity

For ZTE Nubia Z18, the network technology is dynamic. They are GSM, CDMA, HSPA, EVDO, and LTE. There is no headphone jack, but there is DTS HD sound with active noise cancellation with dedicated mic. There is also Type-C to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter.

Internet capabilities include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac dual-band Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, and hotspot. The Bluetooth available is 5.0, A-GPS and Glonass available. There is no provision for FM radio, but you can always install an app from the Store.

Both the ZTE Nubia Z18 and its predecessor (mini) share the same fate when it comes to battery life. This device runs on a non-removable Li-Po 3450 mAh battery. The ZTE Nubia Z18 has fast charging features so that a user will not need to have any anxiety waiting a long time for the phone to charge up to 100 percent full.

Price and Availability

Apparently, the ZTE Nubia was announced at the start of September 2018 and is expected to hit smartphone stores sometime toward the end of the month. Probably, before it reaches many offline stores that could be in the month of October 2018.
