The Infinix Hot S X521 is an upgrade of Infinix’s Hot 3 Android smartphone and the first ever device from the company to come with a fingerprint scanner, which is a major selling point and trust me, the fingerprint works pretty well.
What’s new in Infinix Hot S X521?
- The smartphone features a fingerprint scanner
- Boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow
- Bright, sharp display
- Robust camera configurations for capturing amazing moments
- Awesome performance
- 4G LTE for faster internet connection
This new release is now available on Jumia Nigeria and some other offline stores. Apparently the wait is over, potential customers and fans of the brand will finally get to know what’s in the offering.
Infinix X521 comes in 5 excellent colours to suite your lifestyle – Gold, Black, Blue, Ash, and Pink. However, my review unit is a coloured champagne gold version that sport a RAM of 2GB, 16GB internal storage.

Hot S has a solid build, its edges are covered in aluminium and back cover made of matte plastic with same colour showing no fingerprint marks, which gives it a premium look and feel.
The Hot S has a 5.2-inch IPS display, with a pixel density of 320 dot-per-inch (dpi), a 13-megapixel rear camera (with dual LED-flash), an 8-megapixel selfie camera that is also accompanied with a soft flash, and a 3000mAh battery pack – all powered by an Android 6.0 Marshmallow laced up with Infinix’s XOS (Chameleon v2.0.0).
Don’t let me dive much into specs now, I am going to spend some times with this little baby before talking much on the full smartphone review. Anyway, let me leave that for now and face the unboxing 🙂
Here are items found in the box along with the smartphone:
- 1 USB cable
- 1 pair of earphones
- 1 charger head
- 1 ejector pin
- User manuals
Here comes the device – sitting inside a carton colour pack. The device looks good, sturdy and light in the hand than the Hot 3. Another thing I love is the placement of the speaker – it is placed at the bottom of the device which mean you can place the device on any surface without affecting the sound quality.
Hot S offers a 5.2-inch IPS Display, which is not too big and not too small. However, the resolution remains the same at 720 x 1280 pixels. The display is not protected by any temper glass cover/protector so you have to be careful with the device to avoid drops.
This time, there is an ejectable slot for both SIM and SD card, but you have to trade a SIM card for SD card. In case you’re wondering, the back cover is not detachable unlike the Infinix Hot Note. The battery is not removable.
The handset has a centered 13-megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash just below it. Selfie time!… Infinix markets the Hot S for its selfie capabilities. The phone is themed ‘Fingerprint your selfie’ with focus on how the brand has created an excellent photography device for users, with effortless selfies, using 8-megapixel front camera & Finger print scanner. These two key features combined with filters and camera effects make Infinix HOT S the perfect lifestyle smartphone. The front facing snapper is also blessed with a soft flash for people who love to take selfies at night. Well, more specs on the camera will be discussed in our review. We will be testing both the back and front camera to see if they are not over hyped.
Infinix Hot S has the micro-USB port at the bottom and the earphone jack is at the top right.
The phone boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow with XOS on top of it. This version looks refined and from the look of it, the icons have gone through a redesign that looks quite good.
That is not all with the fingerprint scanner, as you can also use it to unlock your device or application. Infinix Hot S indeed registers “fingerprints” and this is tested working awesomely. Keep tabs on this website for the full review.
Infinix Hot S is now available in Nigeria. You can buy the phone at leading online stores in the country.
