We have seen quite a number of ZTE devices this year like the ZTE Blade Max 3, ZTE Nubia Z17, ZTE Blade V8 Pro, ZTE Nubia M2 Play, ZTE Nubia Z17 Mini etc. There are other great devices released in previous years carrying the ZTE imprint on them e.g the ZTE Blade A2 Plus with big 5,000 mAh battery capacity and the 2 GB RAM ZTE Grand X 4. You can see the list of all ZTE devices here.

Joining the list of ZTE is the new ZTE Nubia Z17 Lite. Though there have been two variants of the Nubia Z17 in the past, this is the latest. The device basically stands in between the main ZTE Nubia Z17 and the ZTE Nubia Z17 Mini. Let’s have a look at the specifications.
DESIGN & DISPLAY
Regarding design and body build, the ZTE Nubia Z17 Lite is the exact replica of the ZTE Nubia Z17. They have the same dimensions (153 x 72.6 x 7.6 mm), same screen size and type (5.5 inches IPS capacitive touchscreen), same display resolution (1080 x 1920 pixels ) and the positions of the cameras, fingerprint scanner, and volume adjusters are the same on both devices.
However, the ZTE Nubia Z17 Lite weighs less (168 grams) than the main Nubia Z17 (which comes in at 173 grams). Also, the Nubia Z17 Lite is fragile and prone to easy shattering as it lacks the Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the display. Therefore, a shattered glass accessory is advised if you choose to purchase the device.
PROCESSOR, OS & STORAGE
The ZTE Nubia Z17 Lite comes out of the box running an Android v7.1 Nougat operating system. All operations of the device are handled by the Qualcomm MSM8976 Pro Snapdragon 653 chipset and the 1.95 GHz Octa core processor. A Qualcomm Adreno 510 GPU handles all graphical aspect of the device.
The processing unit of the ZTE Nubia Z17 Lite is lower than that of the Nubia 17. Being a Lite (toned down) version, it is quite expected. However, the device still performs well enough. As a matter of fact, it sports a massive 6 GB of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage. The huge RAM give rooms for fluid multitasking.
Just in case the inherent 64GB ROM isn’t enough to handle your storage needs, you can expand to up to 256 GB using an external micro SD card in the SIM 2 port.
CAMERA & BATTERY
The dual camera at the rear of the device is made of two 13 megapixels lens flanked to the right by Dual LED flash. On the front, a single high quality 16 megapixels lens is embedded for taking selfies and video calls among other functions.
Powering the ZTE Nubia Z17 Lite is a non-removable battery with a capacity of 3,200 mAh. The device comes with a Quick charge 3.0 enabled so fast charge of your device is assured.
PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
The ZTE Nubia Z17 Lite was launched August 2017 and is available for purchase. The device costs about $430 – $450 (about NGN 150,000).
