COVID-19 meant that several technological events had to be canceled, which of course includes Google I/O! The annual Google conference that apparently should serve as the stage for the launch of the Pixel 4a, the smartphone that is set to succeed the super popular mid-range Pixel 3a.
That said, despite the cancellation of the event, everything continued to indicate that the launch would continue to happen in May. But now we even have the confirmation for the day!
(Leak) We already know the Pixel 4a release date!
Therefore, internal documents from German Vodafone arrived on the Internet, which in turn show the availability of the Pixel 4a through this mobile network provider from 22 May. That is, one week after the planned date for Google I/O.
Having said that, the source that reveals this information to us is exactly the same source that revealed the price and release date of the Pixel 3a last year… So it is very likely to be true.
However, the Pixel 4a is expected to come equipped with a 5.81 ”OLED Full HD + screen, a Snapdragon 730 processor, Titan M security chip, 6GB of RAM, 64GB / 128GB of storage and 3080mAh of battery. As for the cameras, we should have a single 12.2MP camera with autofocus, OIS, and EIS, as well as an 8MP front camera in a hole in the screen.
That is, a mid-range smartphone that will set aside some 2020 trends, such as rear camera systems with 3/4 or 5 cameras, 5G support, and a stupidly high price … Hopefully! We also have no idea yet whether the OLED screen will support high refresh rates, probably not.
