If you thought of Netflix when reading the definition of RaiPlay, you were wrong. The two platforms share some features (both work in streaming), but for many others they differ. On RaiPlay, for example, it is possible to watch in streaming all the Rai channels– just connect to the platform to start watching Rai 1, Rai 2 or RaiSport + HD. What is RaiPlay
RaiPlay is a streaming platform where you can watch live Rai TV channels or programs, TV series and films broadcast in the previous days. RaiPlay is free, there is no need to pay any monthly or annual subscription.
How to see RaiPlay
There are several ways to view RaiPlay. We can directly access the website, download the free application for smartphones and tablets from the Google Play Store and App Store, or download the app for the smart TV and associate your RaiPlay account with the TV. You need to specify that you can only watch RaiPlay on your TV if we have a smart TV, which is a smart TV that can connect to the Internet.
To view the direct streaming of the Rai channels on RaiPlay it is necessary to launch the application, press on the icon with three vertical lines, select TV Channels and then on Direct. A screen will open with all available channels and clicking on the one you want to see (for example Rai Due) will start streaming.
If, on the other hand, you want to see a program already on the air, you must enter RaiPlay, press on the icon with three horizontal lines, select On Demand and then press on one of the available categories- Movies, Fiction, TV Series, Children, Programs, Rai cabinets, Documentaries, Music and theater. At this point, a new page will open with all the contents available. To view on demand content on RaiPlay it is necessary to be registered on the platform.
How to register on RaiPlay
As already mentioned, RaiPlay is a free service, but to access the programs available on demand it is necessary to be registered. To subscribe to the platform you need to open RaiPlay (from the website or from the application), press on the “Login” button and then on the “Register” item. A screen will open that allows the user to register via Facebook, Twitter, Google or their e-mail address. Depending on the service chosen, all the steps must be followed and eventually you will have an account registered on RaiPlay.
If you decide to watch the service from the smart TV, the registration phase is a little longer. First, you need to subscribe to the platform (following the steps we have just explained) and then you must associate the smart TV to your account. Opening the RaiPlay app from your smart TV, you need to press on the icon with three horizontal lines at the top left, then on Support and finally on “Associate TV”. A five-digit code to be entered to complete the association process will appear on the smart TV screen.
Which programs are available on RaiPlay
RaiPlay is a service very similar to SkyGo, the on demand service of Sky. Users have the opportunity on the one hand to watch the state TV channels in live streaming, and on the other to watch the original productions, films, TV series and programs broadcast by Rai at any time.
On RaiPlay are available all the programs broadcast by the RAI channels in the last week, the TV series aired and the original contents produced by Rai. The state TV has recently decided to invest heavily on RaiPlay and is starting to produce original programs that are broadcast exclusively on the online platform. The first program is Viva RaiPlay, a television show hosted by Fiorello that began on November 13th 2019. After the first episodes broadcast on Rai Uno, the new Fiorello TV show is available only on RaiPlay. The episodes are published on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 8.30pm.
What is Viva RaiPlay
Viva RaiPlay is the first original program produced by Rai exclusively for RaiPlay. To see Viva RaiPlay you need to launch RaiPlay, enter your account credentials and press on the box dedicated to the program on the homepage. At this point, a page will open with all the episodes broadcast so far and by clicking on the one you want to see the program will start streaming. As mentioned, Viva RaiPlay is broadcast on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday at 20:30.
The program also has its own life on the radio- on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 to 11:45 it broadcasts on Radio 2 “Viva RaiPlay alla Radio”. In forty-five minutes the best gags and monologues of Fiorello are proposed again. Rai radio stations can also be listened to in streaming on RaiPlay Radio or on the RaiPlay Radio app, available free for Android and iPh]one smartphones.
