Amazon launches Echo Dot Kids Edition 2024

Amazon has announced the Echo Dot Kids Edition which is a new child-friendly to its catalog just about a month after it launched the Fire 7 Kids Edition alongside the standard Fire 7 tablet. The device is a successor to the Echo Dot Kids which was released last year. It comes with a design of the third-gen Echo Dot speaker, sporting bright colors on the outside. The device comes with a starting price of $49.99 (approx. Rs 3,500).

Amazon says that the new Echo Dot Kids Edition will be 70 percent louder than last year’s edition and it will also come with a year’s worth of Amazon’s FreeTime Unlimited service. With FreeTime Unlimited services, users will get a slew of child-friendly content including age-appropriate Audible titles, premium skills from Disney, Sony, and podcasts.

The device also comes with two new FreeTime features. The first is a kid-friendly flash briefing which provides the latest news from News-O-Matic and National Geographic, interesting facts as well as the Word of the day. It also allows parents to control the news and updates of the Flash Briefing via the Parent Dashboard. The second is the Alexa Skill Blueprints. This feature allows users to make their own adventure with more than ten preset templates.

The new Echo Dot Kids Edition features the form factor of the third-gen Echo Dot speaker as well as a fabric outer cover which comes in Rainbow and Blue colors. Unlike the edition which was released last year, this year’s edition will not come with a protective case.

When the Amazon Echo Dot Kids Edition is purchased, it comes with a two-year breakage guarantee for a price of $69.99 (approx. Rs 4,900). The device, however, comes with a starting price of $49.99 (approx. Rs 3,500).
