Asus Zenfone Max Pro VS Asus Zenfone Max Plus – The Zenfone Max budget smartphones. The budget category/segment in the smartphone market happens to be one of the most competitive. Most companies such as Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo, Nokia and so on, are all manufacturing budget smartphones. Taiwan company Asus is also a big player when it comes to a budgeted smartphone. The company recently announced the “Asus Zenfone Max Pro”; a budget smartphone which offers so much for less price.
We can’t help but notice the name is similar to “Asus Zenfone Max Plus”, which was released in December 2017. Coincidentally both smartphones are nickname “M1”. Maybe the Max Pro is the successor to the Max Plus. Although Asus didn’t say anything relating to that. The similarity can’t go unnoticed, and we would need to compare both smartphones to know more.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro VS Asus Zenfone Max Plus – The Design
They both have the same front glass with an aluminum alloy body, and same rounded edges. The resemblance between them is simply overwhelming. The Asus Zenfone Max Plus measures 8.8mm thick and weighs 160 grams. While the Zenfone Max Pro measures 9mm thick and weigh 180 grams.
At the rear panel of both phones is the fingerprint sensor which is in the middle. The Asus branding name is just below the fingerprint sensor of the Max Pro. While on the Max Plus, the name is at the bottom. The dual rear camera setup is another difference between them. The Max Pro dual rear camera is at the top-left in a vertical position. While the Max Plus dual rear camera is also at the top-left but in a horizontal position. The Asus Zenfone Max Plus is available in Sunlight Gold, Azure Silver, and Deepsea Black body colors. While the Asus Zenfone Max Pro is available in Black and Gray body colors.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro VS Asus Zenfone Max Plus – The Display
They’re both bezel-less with minimal bezels at the top and bottom and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The Max Pro features taller screen size to the Max Plus. The Asus Zenfone Max Pro houses a 5.99 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 77% screen-to-body ratio. While the Asus Zenfone Max Plus houses a 5.7 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 75.3% screen-to-body ratio.
They both feature the same display resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels. With a 424 PPI density for the Max Plus and 402 PPI density for the Max Pro.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro VS Asus Zenfone Max Plus – The Camera
Last year’s Asus Zenfone Max Plus features better camera quality to the Max Pro. The Max Pro sports a front camera with 8MP f/2.2 aperture sensor and LED flash. At the dual rear camera is a 13MP f/2.2 aperture primary sensor and 5MP f/2.4 aperture secondary sensor. For the 6GB RAM model of Max Pro, the dual rear camera features a 16MP primary sensor and 5MP secondary sensor.
The Asus Zenfone Max Plus front camera has an 8MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture. While the dual rear camera sports a 16MP f/2.0 aperture primary sensor and 8MP secondary sensor. Overall, the Asus Zenfone Max Plus will take better pictures in low-light conditions than the Max Pro.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro VS Asus Zenfone Max Plus – Hardware and Software
The Asus Zenfone Max Plus is powered by Mediatek MT6750T chipset with 4-cores clocking at 1.5GHz and 4-cores clocking at 1.0GHz. While the Zenfone Max Pro is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset with 8-cores reaching a speed of 1.8GHz. The Asus Zenfone Max Pro runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box, the phone has a stock UI. While the Max Plus runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with Asus ZenUI 4.0 skin.
In terms of memory, the Asus Zenfone Max Plus comes in three models; the 2GB RAM with 16GB storage, 3GB RAM with 32GB storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB storage. While the Max Pro also comes in three models; 3GB RAM with 32GB storage, 4GB RAM with 64GB storage and 6GB RAM with 64GB storage.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro VS Asus Zenfone Max Plus – The Battery
The Asus Zenfone Max Plus packs a non-removable Li-Po 4130 mAh battery. While the Asus Zenfone Max Pro packs a non-removable Li-Po 5000 mAh battery. They both feature the same fast battery charging of 5V/2A 10W.
Asus Zenfone Max Pro VS Asus Zenfone Max Plus – The Price
The Asus Zenfone Max Pro costs about $191 (N66,850). While the Asus Zenfone Max Plus is available for around $298 (N104,300). They both offer similar specs but my choice will be the Asus Zenfone Max Pro for its bigger battery capacity and Snapdragon chipset.
