Buyers of Pixel 3 and OnePlus 6T come mostly from Samsung

Who buys a Pixel 3 from Google or a OnePlus 6T? Counterpoint Research’s statistics indicate that they are people who mostly come from Samsung smartphones.

With the market being saturated, the only way that manufacturers have to increase market share is by stealing customers from other brands. Here comes the very important factor of “loyalty” to the brand (not due to periods of forced loyalty, as happens in the operators), and it is, therefore, interesting to watch these movements.

Counterpoint Research looked at what brand Pixel 3 buyers from Google and OnePlus 6T came from.

In the case of Pixel 3, we have 51% of users who previously had a Samsung smartphone, and also the curious fact that 18% came from the competitor field (Apple). Already in the case of the OnePlus 6T, is also the former Samsung leading the table, with 37%, and also the former Apple who is in second place with 16%.

There are, however, some aspects to take into account. Firstly, with Samsung leading the market share in Android, it turns out to be natural that most people who change smartphone have come from a Samsung. On the other hand, we can not forget that the sales volume of the Pixel 3 is “insignificant”, and that even the OnePlus 6T may be the most successful model of the brand, it also remains a model with reduced sales volume. That said, it seems that Samsung has to work harder to minimize the will of these customers if they move to other brands.
