OnePlus 6 VS OnePlus 5T – Why you should upgrade to the new OnePlus 6. Finally, the OnePlus 6 has been released! The smartphone is one of the most talked about device in the last few weeks. The OnePlus 6 is a direct successor to last year’s OnePlus 5T. The OnePlus 5T was simply a beauty and fan’s favorite. A lot of smartphone users still use the device to date. I personally feel the OnePlus 6 had so much hype because of well perfect the OnePlus 5T was.

The OnePlus brand generally is known for making their products very affordable and the OnePlus 6 lives up to that. But with the OnePlus 6 coming just six months after the released of the OnePlus 5T, will there be any significant difference between the two. This article will be comparing the features and specifications of the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 5T. Let’s find out if the OnePlus 6 is bringing something new to the table.

The body design is of the OnePlus 6 is an upgrade to the OnePlus 5T. For the OnePlus 5T you get a front glass with an aluminum back and frame. While on the new OnePlus 6 is a full Corning gorilla glass 5 front and back. The only metal you find on the body of the OnePlus 6 is at the frame and power buttons. The OnePlus 6 still features the 3.5mm headphone jack at the bottom and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor just like the OnePlus 5T.

The dual rear camera position has changed on the OnePlus 6. The OnePlus 5T has its dual rear camera at the top left corner in a horizontal position. While the OnePlus 6 features the dual rear camera at the center in a vertical position. Surprisingly, the OnePlus 6 is heavier and thicker to the OnePlus 5T. Weighing 162 grams with 7.3 mm thickness is the OnePlus 5T. While the OnePlus 6 weighs 177 grams with 7.8 mm thickness.

They both feature three body color options. The OnePlus 5T is available in Sandstone White, Midnight Black, and Lava Red body colors. While the OnePlus 6 also offers Midnight Black body color along with Mirror Black and Silk White. According to OnePlus, the OnePlus 6 is water resistance. Though it has no IP certification rating, so you might want to be cautious. While the OnePlus 5T isn’t water resistant.

OnePlus 6 VS OnePlus 5T – The Display

OnePlus is working hard to give users a full-screen display with larger screen size. The OnePlus 6 is the brand’s largest screen smartphone with a 6.28-inch screen, which stretches up to 83.8% screen-to-body ratio. The OnePlus 5T features a 6.01-inch screen with 80% screen-to-body ratio. The OnePlus 6 still retains the Optic AMOLED touchscreen found on the OnePlus 5T.

Thanks to the OnePlus 6 adopting a notch, it now has a 19:9 aspect ratio display. While the OnePlus 5T has an 18:9 aspect ratio display. The OnePlus 6 has a display resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels and 402 PPI density. While the display resolution of the OnePlus 5T is 1080 x 2160 with 401 PPI density. The display of both the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 5T is protected by Corning gorilla glass 5.

OnePlus 6 VS OnePlus 5T – The Camera

The OnePlus 6 adopts the camera specs of the OnePlus 5T. Their rear camera offers a primary 16MP f/1.7 aperture sensor combined with a secondary 20MP f/1.7 aperture sensor. At their front camera is a 16MP f/2.0 aperture shooter. The OnePlus 6 rear camera features an optical image stabilizer (OIS), which isn’t available on the OnePlus 5T.

Both the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 5T can shoot 4K video at 60fps. While the OnePlus 6 offers additional super slow motion mode that can capture HD videos at 480fps in a lower 720p resolution. OnePlus has said that portrait mode will be available for the OnePlus 6 front and rear camera.

The OnePlus 5T houses Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, which carries 4-cores at 2.45GHz and 4-cores at 1.9GHz. The OnePlus 6 comes with the latest version of Snapdragon called Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset. The chipset carries 4-cores processor reaching a speed of 2.8GHz and 4-cores processor reaching a speed of 1.7GHz. The OnePlus 5T is powered by Adreno 540 graphics processing unit. While the OnePlus 6 is powered by Adreno 640 graphics processing unit.

The OnePlus 5T runs on Oxygen OS 5.1 skin on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. While the OnePlus 6 runs on Oxygen OS 5.1.1 skin on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. The OnePlus 5T and OnePlus 6 offers a 6GB memory with 64GB storage and 8GB memory with 128GB. The OnePlus comes with an additional 8GB memory with a bigger 256GB storage.

OnePlus 6 VS OnePlus 5T – The Battery

There is no upgrade in the battery department as they offer the same battery capacity. They’re both packed with a non-removable Li-Po 3300 mAh battery and supports fast battery charging called “Dash Charge”.

OnePlus 6 VS OnePlus 5T – The Price

The OnePlus 5T cost about $590 (N206,500). While the new OnePlus 6 cost about $613 (N214,550). The difference between them isn’t that much. But the little improvement on the OnePlus 6, especially the new features of the camera and new hardware is worth the little extra cash.
