Call of Duty is not new to the mobile gaming world but the version called Call of Duty- Mobile is different. Activision must have released this one in an effort to break into the overcrowded mobile market and make an impact there. There isn’t campaign mode in this one but multiplayer modes exist alongside a full Battle Royale.
Controls are Mediocre
Controls are average and in a shooter game where it is best to use a controller as against touchscreen or keyboard or mouse, Call of Duty: Mobile isn’t controller-enabled. So you should have this in mind. Playing Call of Duty- Mobile with your fingers on the touchscreen has your fingers taking up some space on the screen. This issue is alongside the relative lack of speed and precision of the controls. Knowing all these will inform you of what to expect- decent controlling and firing.
Don’t have too many expectations on the movement because it is a little inconsistent with the virtual left control stick. Aiming and firing are okay still. You’ll be able to sneak up on someone and line up the reticle; this works well and the reverse scenario where you can get your gun up and fire back quickly works quite reliably too. You’ll need to employ your gaming expertise to crouch behind cover, toss off a grenade, or vault through a window due to the density of on-screen icons. In all, standard shooting is decent.
With an array of icons, you may find it difficult to control your soldier. 20 buttons litter the surface of your screen all the time in standard multiplayer, you know what this means. This even excludes the virtual control sticks and there are more icons in battle royale mode. This does not in any way fit the interface and can make it hard to get a hand on the controls but what can you do when there’s isn’t a controller option. Even for the fact that Android and iOS can now use standard Bluetooth controllers, the feature for it does not exist in Call of Duty- Mobile.
Great Interface
Aside from the icons, you have in the game a great-looking interface. The game comprises of environment, Guns, and soldiers with vivid details that you may not expect for a mobile game like this although it does not still match up to Black Ops 4 on Xbox OneX.
In Battle Royale Mode…
You’d like the Customisation Options…
Heavy customization came with the Call of Duty- Mobile package. The game is loaded with player skins, custom load-outs, weapon skins, badges, and killstreaks. Though it is not up to the advanced customization you see in Call of Duty- Black Ops 4, the graphics still measure up to the late-generation Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 game.
Oops! Careful! Microtransactions here and they’re tempting
One thing that you may want to be informed of is the presence or absence of microtransactions. And yes the game has microtransactions coupled with battle passes to support the game. You could get tempted by the cosmetic rewards which are really strong. The premium grenades, guns, and other skins are visually brilliant but don’t expect that with the default player skin which is really dull. Microtransactions litter everywhere as you find several slots of customization. You got to be careful because the lure can bring down the willpower in you in your bid to explore possibilities.
In Conclusion
Call of Duty- Mobile is a shooter game with intense action. Though there isn’t support for what I’d have loved – Controller -, it is still one game that’s impressive. With microtransactions here and there, you may just have to part with some money if you’re a customization freak. Above all, it’s a great game
