Chrome OS is now more integrated with Google Assistant

Although with little expression in Portugal, Chrome OS is one of the most used operating systems in the USA. This is the software designed by Google for computers and is now even more connected to Google Assistant.

With the arrival of the final version of Chrome OS 72, this operating system receives support for Android Pie as well as news for its Artificial Intelligence. Although already present in this operating system, this AI is now available natively.

Now available for a wider variety of devices, Google Assistant on Chrome OS is more like a smartphone experience. It is now in the center of your computer screen.

Google Assistant and Android Pie are the main novelties of Chrome OS 72

Once triggered, Google Assistant has all the breadth of features you can find on any other device. Therefore, after opening you will have three options at your disposal.

What can I do for you? What’s on my screen? What do I have on my calendar? These are the suggestions you’ll find as soon as you open Google Assistant. However, you can always completely ignore them and ask your own question.

In addition, the new version of Chrome OS went directly to the instance of Android Pie. Ignoring Oreo completely, the Play Store and its applications are now based on the latest version of the software.

Other news is native support for picture-in-picture. So far only available in Google Chrome, this feature is now native to Chrome OS. This means that any site with video playback can take advantage of this function.

Last but not least, we have some security news. Nicknamed USBGuard, this feature will prevent malicious software from entering through USB inputs.

To do this, Chrome OS will block these entries when you’re not using your computer. Your role will be restored as soon as you sign in again.

These are the main innovations introduced with the arrival of Chrome OS 72. If you want to explore more thoroughly what comes back with this version, you can always make a jump to the 9to5 Google publication.
