Cube is a Chinese OEM that specializes in smartphones and tablets. Founded in 2004, the company has risen up the status of the top three Android tablet brands in China. The Cube Freer X9 is the most recent addition to the brand’s tablet list. The tablet’s shooter assures you of excellent image qualities and its storage capacity is also a curtain raiser. I won’t like to digress at this juncture, so I’ll go straight up to the Cube Freer X9’s review.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
The tablet’s frontal is simply classic while its rear has a smooth surface. Although the frontal of the tablet PC has just enough bezels, it has a thickness of 0.33 inches. It has a length of 8.98 inches and width of 5.67 inches. The tablet not only has a slim design, but also has a light weight that ranks at 363g. The top most bezel is where the front camera dominates while the rear camera stays in the top left quadrant of tablet’s rear. The dedicated keys on the tablet PC includes the home button (housed in the bottom bezel), power button and volume button’ whose shelter is in the right hand portion of the tablet PC. Plastic material is what encloses the tablet’s body. Sadly, the tablet appears in a single Gray colour.
The tablet’s screen display has an 8.9-inch size. Its resolution is greatly impressive at 2560 x 1600 pixels. The JDI IPS capacitive touchscreen has the multi-touch input enabled. Packing 16 million colours, its pixel density is 339 ppi, thereby ensuring smooth picture quality. Its display area is quite okay at 70.15% screen-to-body ratio.
HARDWARE AND MEMORY
The MediaTek MT8173 holds the chipset chieftaincy position of the tablet. The tablet’s CPU is an ARM Cortex-A72 that clocks at a max speed of 2.0GHz. The CPU has four cores in its arsenal and makes use of the 28nm process technology. PowerVR GX625 with 2 cores plays the role of the tablet’s GPU. It clocks at a speed of 700MHz.
The internal memory of the tablet that stores up files and documents has a tag of 64GB. Its 64GB capacity is not only large but expandable. With the support of a micro SD card up to 64GB, the tablet’s internal memory can be expanded. Easy motion is the rate at which the tablet multi-tasks and this is all thanks to the 4GB RAM programmed on the tablet.
CAMERA, SOFTWARE AND CONNECTIVITY
The quality of images taken by the 13MP rear camera just leaves you in awe of the tablet. The rear camera also has equipped within it features such as autofocus, face detection and HDR. The front camera of the tablet has a decent 5MP shooter for taking the front images. Cube Freer X9 runs on the Android v6.0 Marshmallow OS. Its UI is also modified based on this OS. Zero cellular connectivity is what the tablet offers. Therefore, surfing the internet is possible through connection to Wi-Fi.
BATTERY
A non-removable Lithium Ion 5,500mAh battery is what observes the function of the duration source.
