Galaxy S8 and Note 8 are not even entitled to Android 10!

The Galaxy S8 and Note 8 are not entitled to the update of Android 10. This was officially announced by Samsung, after some rumors and the technical support of this manufacturer to indicate otherwise. The three smartphones benefited from two major updates to the Android operating system, namely Android Pie and Android Oreo.

Galaxy S8 and Note 8 are not even entitled to Android 10!

In November 2019, Samsung’s German technical support announced the imminent arrival of Android 10 for the Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. A few weeks later, representatives of this service from Samsung assured that the update would also be released on the Galaxy Note 8 in the course of 2020. That is, this customer service spread false information, as reported on the website SamMobile.

This well-known site dedicated to Samsung news managed to interview representatives of this manufacturer on the sidelines of the Unpacked conference dedicated to the Galaxy S20. Representatives strongly denied customer service information. No, One UI 2.0 based on Android 10 will not be offered on the two smartphones launched in 2024.

This is not really a surprise. These three devices had already received Android Oreo and Android Pie. That is, the promise is two major Android updates on its next-generation devices. Proposing a third major update is unusual for this manufacturer. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that Samsung’s technical support department has wrongly announced the arrival of certain updates.

Looking at the positives, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 should continue to receive security patches, at least for a while. Even so, the Galaxy S8 is practically three years old and may stop receiving updates soon. Technically, Samsung is under no obligation to provide security patches for the device, but the February 2020 patch is already being implemented for the S8 and Note 8. Future patches developed to fix serious issues may continue to arrive, although at a slower pace than before.
