Earlier this month, Samsung released an update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that included some features of the latest Galaxy devices. The update added the Super Slow Motion and AR Emojis modes, which had already debuted on Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy Note 9. In the last hours, the news has spread that the Seoul giant is distributing this important update also on the Samsung Galaxy S8.
The Super Slow Motion mode is particularly interesting since it allows you to record very short clips of video at 960 fps or 480 fps in 720p. Currently, the Galaxy S8 can only make 480fps at 720p. At the time of the launch, it was possible to record slow motion at only 240 fps in 720p.
AR Emoji is instead Samsung’s attempt to replicate Apple’s Animojis. Thanks to this functionality, the user can create a 3D emoji or use masks and try to trace the movements of the head and mouth. Although it is a “copy”, the South Korean giant has managed to give a touch of originality to its Emoji, and the feedback in users is all in all positive.
The update also includes security patches for the month of September, which is always a very welcome implementation by the owners of the various devices. A user of the Reddit platform has posted a screenshot where the changelog of this update is substantially reported, which weighs 553.10 MB.
Although the Galaxy S8 is not exactly Samsung’s latest model, it’s nice to see how the South Korean company maintains a certain focus even on older devices. Recall that the device is powered by an Exynos 8895 processor, combined with a Mali-G71 MP20 GPU, 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory, expandable up to 256 GB via microSD. The phone also has a 3000 mAh battery, which guarantees 1740 minutes of talk time.
