Gooweel S9 has officially been released by the company, this is coming after the Gooweel S8 was released last year as well. The S9 is a complete replica of the Galaxy S9 in terms of design, the device comes with the trending Face ID as well.
Apart from the dual rear camera and bezel-less display, there’s a Quad-Core processor and an older Android operating system. This is totally weird for a smartphone released in 2024. Without further ado, lets meet the Gooweel S9.
Design
The Plastic back looks absolutely stunning and inviting, it fits perfectly in your hands. First thing you’d notice, is the S9 Plus-like dual rear shooters sitting on a vertically positioned foundation at the top middle.
Underneath the foundation is the fingerprint scanner which allows for quick access to the device. Beside the dual shooters is the LED flash and a heart rate sensor underneath the flash, which might be a gimmick. It’s available in Rose-Gold, Black and Gold colors.
Display
The screen dishes out an 18:9 aspect ratio no doubt, but it isn’t as bezel-less as the Galaxy S9. The side bezels are still visible a little bit, unlike the Galaxy S9. Even though the bottom bezel is vacant, the top houses the usual features.
The 5.72-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen displays like a budget smartphone it is. It boasts of 480 x 960 pixels in resolution and 188 pixel per inch density, with a 2.5D Curved Glass on top. While the screen stretches up to 73.7% screen-to-body ratio.
Hardware and Software
Running the race here is the Mediatek MT6580M chip with Quad-Core processor and 32-bit CPU architecture. The 4-Cores of processor here clocks at a standard speed of 1.3GHz with 28nm process technology. While the ARM Mali-400 MP2 graphics processor comes with 2-Cores.
Multitask with just 1GB storage space available, it has a memory speed of 533MHz as well. While for storage, a disappointing 4GB of storage space is available, however, you can upgrade up to 32GB using a memory card. The Gooweel S9 runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop
Camera
The dual 5MP + 0.3MP dual shooters at the rear captures standard photographs with 2592 x 1944 pixels. You can record videos of 720p @ 30fps, there are other features to enhance your photography including a LED flash. The 2MP selfie camera comes with a LED flash and supports Face ID.
Battery
Powering the Gooweel S9 is a 2500mAh removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology. Without the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 2.2 hours.
