Fortnite has a language filter which is enabled by default. This means that when cuss or swear words are sent via the game’s chat system, it will usually be filtered and be replaced with symbols such as asterisks.
Currently, the game does not have a chat system implemented when you are playing a match. However, you can communicate with other players via the chat and you can also connect to global chat if you own Fortnite PvE, Save The World.
In the guide below, we will show you how to disable the language filter in Fortnite.
How to Disable the Language Filter in Fortnite Battle Royale
First off, go to the main menu in Fortnite Battle Royale. Go to your friends list and then select the social settings icon. You should see it at the top right corner of your friend’s list. The icon looks like 3 lines and a cog.
Open the Social Settings menu from your friend’s list
Now, you should see a new settings menu open up where the friend’s list was. Here, you can edit many game options related to your friend’s list. From here, you can hide recent players, change the font size, hide blocked players and show timestamps.
