- Access QuickTime from the launcher or from Applications.
- Select File and New Screen Recording.
- Go for the small down arrow close to the record button in QuickTime and choose Internal Microphone.
- Get FaceTime opened to set up your call.
- Select QuickTime to record the full screen.
- Press the Stop Recording icon when you are through.
- Select File in QuickTime and Save it.
- Have your recording named and select where exactly you want to save it.
- Finally, save it.
Quicktime is the native screen recorder for Mac whose work is done when you start recording. You are allowed the choice of recording mouse clicks if you are working on a tutorial video. It caters for both your video and audio if it is set up with the microphone.
Even if Quicktime is very effective in recording your screen, some apps can do an even better job. Snagit and Camtasia will also be worthy alternatives if you consider them. They will cost you something though but at the same provide you with more features than QuickTime.
Recording FaceTime Calls
At your present location, it might not be legal to record a video or voice call without letting the other party know anything. Several states in the US have two-party consent laws which translate to you being able to record calls if the two parties agree to it. Some states do not care about these laws however, just be certain of which side of the divide you are on.
