Huawei has a launch event scheduled for tomorrow (June 21) and it will be held in China. At the even, the tech giant plans to launch the new Nova 5 series which include phones like Huawei Nova 5, Nova 5 Pro, and Nova 5i.
Also, the company has also confirmed that it will unveil a new Kirin chipset based on the 7nm node. If this launch goes as planned, it will make Huawei the first company in the world to have two 7nm chipsets.
Ahead o the launch scheduled for tomorrow, the company has posted a teaser of the Kirin 810 chipset which it plans to launch tomorrow. The poster which was shared by the company describes the chipset as a “key to the future”. It also went ahead to confirm its unveiling on 21st June.
Although the name of the chipset wasn’t revealed by the company, it is widely believed to be named the Kirin 810. This will make it the first processor in the HiSilicon 800-series. Apart from the fact that the chipset will be manufactured on a 7nm mode, there aren’t many known details about it.
However, Huawei usually puts focus on artificial intelligence (AI) technology for its chipsets and we expect that the Kirin 810 won’t be any different. Also, remember that Huawei was the first to introduce a dedicated AI core in the Kirin 970 chipset.
Reports say that the Kirin 810 will be the successor to the Kirin 710 which was used on many mid-range phones. Based on TSMC’s 7nm process, the SoC is expected to come with an eight-core CPU and an upgraded GPU.
The Kirin 810 might take on the Snapdragon 730 and SD730G which are two recently launched Qualcomm chipsets in the Snapdragon 700 series. The chipset is also expected to power the upcoming Huawei 9X Pro.
Since we aren’t sure way Huawei has planned for tomorrow’s launch regarding this upcoming 7nm SoC, all we can do is wait for the official launch event to take place. Huawei is also expected to launch the MediaPad M6 tablet along with the Kirin 810 and the Nova 5 series.
