About Gaana

Gaana owned by Times Internet has now become 9 years old. It was launched in April 2010. It provides both Indian and international music content. Get access to 30 Milion Plus Bollywood and English high-quality audio songs. Listen to never-ending Radio.

The owner has also shared some users data saying that it had 80 million active users last December, but now it is crossing 100 M+. The CEO of Gaana, Prashan Agarwal in a statement said that the videos will only be exclusive to its users on all the platforms. These platforms include Browser, Android, Windows, Mac OS, and IOS. It is going to add the first feature dubbed Gaana Video which will be mainly for mobile and vertical videos from India’s top music singers.

Gaana provides both free and paid subscription to its users. The paid subscription is named as Gaana Plus. If you want features like unlimited downloading, ad-free music experience, high-quality music audio quality and sync downloading across multiple devices than Gaana Plus subscription is for you.

It’s Rivals

There are many rivals music streaming companies in India & worldwide giving a fierce competition to it. These companies include Wynk, JioSaavan, Spotify, Google Play’s Music, Apple Music, and YouTube Music. The video streaming feature is going to push Gaana against its rival companies. Most of its rival music streaming companies also offer free and paid service. Acquiring the premium service will not cost more than 2 dollars per month. Seeing this price rating, we can predict how tough it is to survive in Indian music streaming industry. Although these companies spend millions in licensing tracks from music labels.

Challenges When Entering Into Online Video Streaming Industry

It would not be an easy challenge for Gaana just to introduce video streaming and make millions of profit. It entirely depends on its user base and the place to where its users belong to. Most of its users live in small cities or a village will not buy a paid subscription and ad revenue is also low from them. It takes millions of money in licensing music tracks. The biggest music label company Tseries and YouTube at its peak will make it more tough for Gaana to survive in the video streaming industry.
