Infinix Note 5 VS Infinix Note 4 Pro – Overall performance or the Xpen stylus?

Infinix Note 5 VS Infinix Note 4 Pro – Overall performance or the Xpen stylus? Infinix Mobility with a partnership from Google released an Android One smartphone called the Infinix Note 5 at an event in Dubai, UAE. I’ve to say this is one move nobody saw coming. The OEM company ditched their XOS user interface skin, which was present in other Infinix latest smartphones. Google may be right after all with their Android One initiative being the future. These so-called user interface skins are packed with too many features and occupies an excessive amount of memory. Therefore making the Android experience on the said smartphone to be slow or unwieldy.

Am an advocate of a pure stock Android operating system, which is why am excited about the new Infinix Note 5. The new smartphone succeeds the 2017’s Infinix Note 4 and its senior sibling; Infinix Note 4 Pro. This article will focus on the Infinix Note 4 Pro with the Infinix Note 5. The Infinix Note 5 measures the same 8.4mm in thickness with the Infinix Note 4 Pro. But the Note 5 weighs 173 grams while the Note 4 Pro weighs a staggering 198 grams. At the front, the Infinix Note 5 features an 18:9 aspect ratio with no bezel at the sides and minimal bezel at top and bottom. While the Infinix Note 4 Pro features large bezel at the top and bottom with little bezel at the sides. The bottom bezel of the Infinix Note 4 Pro houses a home button, which features the fingerprint sensor.

Moving across to the back, you’ll see the fingerprint sensor of the Infinix Note 5, which is rear mounted at the top center. Aside from the sensor, the Note 5 features a single rear camera with LED flash. The rear camera and the LED flash are aligned at the top left corner. At the back of the Note 4 Pro is a single rear camera with LED flash aligned at the top center.

The Infinix Note 4 Pro comes with an Xpen stylus, which the Note 5 doesn’t have. But we expect the coming Infinix Note 5 Pro should have that feature. The Xpen stylus is majorly for the Pro versions. The Infinix Note 4 Pro comes in four body colors option; Champagne Gold, Sandstone Black, Prussian Blue and Lilac Gray. While the Infinix Note 5 comes in three body colors option; Black, Blue, and Grey.

Infinix Note 5 VS Infinix Note 4 Pro – The Display

The Infinix Note 5 features the best display in the Note series so far. The new smartphone comes with a 6.0 inch IPS LCD panel, 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution with 402 pixels per inch density. Whereas, the Infinix Note 4 Pro features a 5.7 inch IPS LCD panel, 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution with 386 pixels per inch density.

At the front, the Note 4 Pro sports an 8MP front-facing camera with LED flash. Whereas, the Infinix Note 5 sports a 16MP front-facing camera with LED flash. The camera of the Infinix Note 5 is AI-driven while that of the Note 4 isn’t.

Infinix Note 5 VS Infinix Note 4 Pro – Hardware and Software

I feel it would have been great if the Note 5 was powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. But i guess Infinix Mobility are leaving that for its Pro version. The Infinix Note 5 is being powered by MediaTek Helio P23 chip with an Octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. While the Infinix Note 4 Pro is powered by MediaTek Helio X10 chip with an Octa-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz.

The Infinix Note 4 Pro runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box with XOS 2.3 skin on top and a 3GB memory with 32GB storage. Meanwhile, the Infinix Note 5 runs on pure Android 8.1 Oreo with 3GB memory and 32GB storage.

Infinix Note 5 VS Infinix Note 4 Pro – The Battery

Both the Infinix Note 4 Pro and Note 5 packs the same non-removable Li-Po 4500 mAh battery with fast battery charging support.

Infinix Note 5 VS Infinix Note 4 Pro – The Price

The Infinix Note 4 Pro is presently sold for about $200 (N70,000). Whereas, the new Infinix Note 5 is sold at around $183 (N64,050). Aside from the Xpen stylus feature on the Note 4 Pro, I see no reason why you shouldn’t buy the Infinix Note 5. The Infinix Note 5 gives you a better display, hardware, and bigger front camera pixels.
