The Irbis SP550 has finally been launched by the company as s budget smartphone with a sharp 13MP rear camera. According to the company, the device is for photography lovers who are on a tight budget.
Irbis is known for producing these budget killer phones with low-level specs. Apart from the 13MP rear camera, what else does the Irbis SP550 have to offer? Well, we’ll find out soon enough.
Design
A simple looking smartphone it is, only the Irbis logo is at the middle of the back. This means it has no fingerprint scanner, which might be a bummer to a lot of users. The 13MP shooter is at the top left corner with a dual-LED flash sitting by the side.
There’s a rear loudspeaker at the bottom corner to the right, which rounds up the features at the rear. Moving further, it measures 8.6 mm slim by the sides and weighs 158g overall. The smartphone was launched in black, no words yet if other colors will be rolled out as well.
Display
Not sure what Irbis were trying to achieve here, the screen stretches up to 70.8% screen to body ratio. Nonetheless, there are still three navigation buttons at the bottom bezel, while the narrow bezels are pretty much visible as well.
Still on bezels, the top houses the selfie camera and speaker grille. Focusing on the screen, the 5.5-inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is pretty solid. With a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and 267 pixel per inch density, details on the screen should be clear enough. Even though it dishes out a 16:9 aspect ratio, it has a 24-bit color depth and supports multi-touch as well.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood is the MediaTek MT6737M chipset with Quad-core processor and 64-bit architecture. It has a 28nm process technology, while the Quad-core processor reaches a maximum speed of 1.2GHz. For graphics, the ARM Mali-T720 MP1 is totally in charge and clocks at 550MHz.
Just 1GB of RAM is available here for light multitasking alongside a memory speed of 640MHz. Storage space has a limit of 8GB, well till whenever you decide to upgrade further up to 64GB. The SP550 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system.
Camera
The 13MP shooter comes with a dual-LED flash by its side and able to capture 4K resolution images. The camera is definitely the highlight of this device, with the Irbis SP550 you can take portrait shoots with 4163 x 3122 pixels in dimension. Moving further, you can record high-definition videos of 1080p at 30 frames per second. Selfies should come alive with the 5MP shooter at the top bezel.
Battery
Powering the Irbis SP550 is a 2800mAh removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology. Even without the fast charging feature, it shouldn’t take more than 2.3 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.
