Russian company Irbis just launched the Irbis SP551 smartphone, a midrange device offering great value for money. According to the company’s website, the device will be available immediately with a starting price of 5000 RUB. At the back of the device is a bird logo that represents the “World Festival of Youths and Students”.
The phone was created specifically for students and youths with an affordable price tag. For that price, the phone does offer true value for money like the company said. Design
Unlike most smartphone in its price range, the SP551 comes in a full Metal unibody with exquisite design. The device is only available in Silver color which i honestly think did adequate justice to its sleek body. The bird flying engraving is simply breathtaking and stunning.
I love every little detail on the back of this device, the Irbis logo is of course present at will. The two silver antenna lines reflect light beautifully as well. The rear camera, LED flash and fingerprint scanner are in a vertical position in that order. It measures 8.3 mm slim and weighs 185g, making it a comfortable to hold and flaunt as well when out and about.
Display
It managed to clock past the 70% mark to be a bezel-less smartphone, reaching a 70.70% screen to body ratio. Nevertheless, the remaining bezels there needs to go as well. Three navigation buttons sit at the bottom bezel, while the usual features are at the top.
Focusing on the screen, the 5.5-inch FHD IPS capacitive touchscreen is very sharp. It boasts 1080 x 1920 pixels in resolution with extremely narrow bezrls in sight. While the pixel per inch density pegs at 401 as it offers immersive visuals.
Hardware and Software
Doing all the work underneath is the MediaTek MT6737T chip with Quad-core processor. The processor reaches a clock speed of 1.45 GHz, it also boasts of a 64-bit CPU architecture and 28nm process technology. The ARM Mali-T720 MP2 handles graphics with 2-Cores and clocks at 600MHz.
The RAM space is up to 2GB for all your multitasking needs, reaching a memory speed of 733 MHz for a smooth ride. Save everything in the 16GB storage space that is upgradeable up to 128GB using the SIM slot 2. The Irbis SP551 runs smoothly on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with modified user interface.
Camera
It’s a budget smartphone quite alright but don’t underestimate the power of its 13MP rear shooter. It captures 4K resolution images with ease, and records video of 1080 pixels at 30 frames per second. Photographs taken with the device boasts of 4160 x 3120 pixels im dimension. You can also take cute selfies with the 8MP selfie camera.
Battery
Powering the Irbis SP551 up is 3100mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology support. Without the feature, it might take between 2-3 hours to fully charge up the battery.
