Karbonn Frames S9 has been introduced by the company in India as an update to the Frames S8 smartphone previously released. The last name might make it seem like a Galaxy S9 clone, but it’s design and specs says otherwise.
Although it has dual selfie shooters which is not on the latest Galaxy smartphone. It’s a budget device as far as specs go, there’s 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, a 5.5-inch massive screen and 4G LTE support. Want to know more? Stay with me.
Design
The Frames S9 sports a Metallic body that’s quite attractive for a budget device. It has curved sides, edges and a smooth overall back. There’s a fingerprint scanner at its usual position for quick access to the device. The Karboon logo sits underneath the fingerprint scanner.
At the top left corner, we can see the rear camera sitting above the antenna line with the LED flash right beside it. It measures 7.85mm in thickness when you turn over to the sides, there’s a power button and volume keys as well. It weighs just 139g and available in Black, Grey and Champagne colors.
Display
If you are looking for bezel-less S9 smartphone, then you need to look elsewhere. The Frames S9 comes with lots of bezels, especially at the top and bottom corner. However, the narrow bezels is almost non-existent, which offers taller display in landscape mode.
Focusing on the screen, 5.5-inch FHD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is highly brilliant for a budget smartphone. The screen has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and 402 pixel per inch density. There’s a 2.5D glass on top doing all the protection you need.
Hardware and Software
Running the race here is the MediaTek MT6739 chip with Quad-Core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 4-Cores of processor here runs at a slow speed of 1.25GHz with 28nm process technothelogy. The ARM Mali-T860 MP1 graphics processor is in charge here clocking at 520MHz.
The 2GB RAM space here is available for light multitasking with a memory speed of 533MHz. While for storage, the 16GB storage can accommodate your files, you can upgrade up to 128GB as well. The Karbonn Frames S9 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with modified interface.
Camera
This phone has a perfect “Twinfie camera” according to the company, the dual 8MP + 8MP selfie camera takes breathtaking selfies. It helps in taking group selfies and portrait selfies as well, there’s a front LED flash to assist during the night or in low light environments. There’s an 8MP rear camera with LED flash that captures photographs with 3264 x 2448 pixels in dimension.
Battery
Powering the Karbonn Frames S9 is a 2900mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with no fast charging technology. Without the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% might take up to 2.5 hours.
