Lava Z53 is one of the smartphones released by the company in February 2020. It is an entry-level smartphone that has a large display, while most other features are reduced to the minimum. In this review, we are taking a look at the full specification of the device. This device was manufactured to compete with entry-level smartphones from Realme and Xiaomi.
Z53 Display
Interestingly, this entry-level device came with a 6.10 display size. It is a single TFT capacitive touchscreen display of 16 million colors. Furthermore, the display resolution is 600 x 1280 pixels, while the aspect ratio is 19:9. Also, the pixel density is 232 PPI. This is a waterdrop display.
Lava Z53 Processor
Of course, the smartphone comes with Unisoc SC9832E processor. The CPU is clocked at 1.4 GHz, and the GPU is Mali T820 MP1.
Storage
Lava Z53 has 1 GB of RAM that can’t be increased. However, there is also an internal storage of 16 GB. Through the use of a microSD card, the user can increase the storage up to 256 GB.
Battery Capacity
Powering the device is a Li-Po 4120 mAh non-removable battery. Never mind, the manufacturer guarantees 35 hours of operation away from the charging point. I can see that this is the main attraction for those loving this device. Even so, the manufacturer has assured users that can get up to two days of battery backup, and that the phone offers ultra-power saving support.
Software Features & Sensors
Android v9.0 Pie is the operating software in the device. But we can’t tell whether it will upgrade to version 10 this year. Sensors in the device are accelerometer, light, and proximity.
Speaker & Call Quality
Furthermore, Z53 is equipped with a mono loudspeaker. The quality may not be that rich, but it is audible enough, especially when the volume is adjusted. There is the addition of a 3.5mm audio jack for noise cancellation.
Camera, Video & Image Quality
There are just two cameras for the device. The one situated at the rear is 8 MP primary camera, while the one at the front is 5 MP. This one is for selfies. In addition, these cameras produce poor quality images at day time and at night. Lastly, some of the features in the cameras are panorama, digital zoom, and LED flash.

The Lava Z53 sells for about $65. That goes for about 25,000 Naira.
The Verdict
The Z63 is an entry-level device that arrived at a low price. It cuts off fingerprint and NFC, and at the display, the size may first lure unaware buyers who may think it is a mid-range phone. Looking inside of it, the only attraction is the battery capacity. That alone is not enough; a little could have been done to up the camera features or increase storage. The Google Assistant supports multiple languages, and as far as the camera megapixels are low, the manufacturer said that night mode makes the photos look good at night.
