Design

Lava Z50

Comes with a Plastic back that’s removable, and looks good enough for a budget friendly smartphone. No special features at the rear, just the rear camera and LED flash which are horizontal at the top left.

Lava Z50

It’s also obvious the company ditched the fingerprint scanner here. Fans have to get the more advanced Z91 to use the feature. Measuring 9.7mm in thickness, it’s quite bulky like most budget phones. It weighs 140g and available in Gold, Black colors.

Display

Lava Z50

There’s nothing bezel-less about the screen here and that was expected. Nonetheless, it dishes out a 16:9 aspect ratio, offering more screens than bezels. Three navigation buttons sits pretty at the bottom bezel. The top bezel houses the selfie camera, speaker grille and ambient light sensor.

The 4.5-inch TN TFT capacitive touchscreen won’t be winning any awards here. With a resolution of 480 x 854 pixels and 218 pixel per inch density, the visuals on this baby will be pretty basic. The screen stretches up to 62.1% screen to body ratio, while a Corning Gorilla Glass 1 protects it all.

Hardware and Software

Running the race here is the Mediatek MT6737M chip with Quad-core processor and 32-bit CPU architecture. The 4-cores of processor runs at a speed of 1.1GHz with 28nm process technology for a smooth ride. In the graphics department, the Mali-T720MP2 graphics processor is in charge.

Just 1GB of RAM space is available here for light multitasking with a memory speed of 533MHz. For storage, 8GB storage space is available as well and upgradeable up to 64GB with a memory card. The Lava Z50 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo Go operating system.

Camera

The 5MP rear camera comes with a LED flash and other features like autofocus, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and others. The camera captures 2K resolution images and records 720 pixels videos at 30 frames per second. For selfies, the 5MP selfie camera comes with a LED flash for night video calls as well.

Battery

Powering the Lava Z50 is a 2000mAh Removable Li-Po battery with no fast charging technology. Even without the fast charging feature, it shouldn’t take up to 2 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.
