The Lava Z61 has been launched in India as a budget-friendly smartphone with the trending 18:9 aspect ratio screen and Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition. It also boasts of a new “Sharp Click” camera.
According to the company, the Sharp Click technology will let the camera capture “even the smallest details” with improved Bokeh mode. There’s s version with 1GB RAM and another with 2GB RAM, lets find out more.
Design
The Z61 sports a combination of Plastic and Metal, it has mainly a Plastic back and Metal frames. Nonetheless, the device looks premium and reflects light beautifully. It sports dual antenna lines which further brought out the beauty of the device.
At the top left corner we can see the highlight of the rear, the sharp click camera sits on top the antenna line and ready for some photography fun. While the LED flash sits right beside it and ready to help out in low light conditions. There’s a loudspeaker at bottom corner as well.
Display
The Z61 sports the trending 18:9 aspect ratio screen, the bezels has been drastically reduced compared to what we typically see from the company. The screen stretches all the way to the sides as well.
The 5.45-inch HD+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is pretty sharp for a budget smartphone. It has a resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels and 295 pixel per inch density. There’s a Corning Gorilla Glass on top offering scratch resistant.
Hardware and Software
It’s powered by the Mediatek MT6739 which was manufactured on an older 28nm process technology. The chip comes with 4-cores of processor and clocks at 1.3GHz. While the PowerVR GE8100 graphics processor reaches a speed of 570MHz.
You get to choose from two variants when it comes to RAM space, there’s a cheaper variant with 1GB and another with 2GB RAM. The storage space is pegged at 16GB, but you can expand up to 128GB. The Z61 runs Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition.
Camera
The Z61 is blessed with a 8MP rear camera with “Super Click” technology and f/2.0 aperture. The camera applies portrait Bokeh effect with a single click, while the 5MP selfie camera supports Face ID.
Battery
Powering the Lava Z61 is a 3000mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology. Without the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% might take up to 2.5 hours.
