The competition in the market is really intensive at the moment. Lenovo has joined the bandwagon with the release of Lenovo S5. Another Chinese mobile manufacturing company named “Oppo” also released the Oppo F7 which is the latest flagship of their F-series. Both smartphones were launched in April 2018. And they will be the purpose of this article. Let’s see which Chinese company’s smartphone is the better device.

Some few similarities in the design of both smartphones. They are both covered in aluminum metal with a front glass. And have the same polish look with a 7.8mm in thickness. The rear camera is on the top-left corner on both device. With their LED flash in a horizontal way to the camera. While the Oppo F7 comes with just LED flash at the back, the Lenovo S5 have a dual-LED flash instead. And of course they both have the fingerprint sensor at the back.

The Oppo F7 comes in two main body colors of Solar Red and Diamond Black. While the Moonlight Silver color is only available for the 64GB variant. While Midnight Black and Flame Red are the only body colors available for Lenovo S5.

The Oppo F7 certainly is one of the best mid-range smartphones with the best display. The device screen nearly covers the entire surface of the smartphone. With a 19:9 aspect ratio on a 6.23-inch screen size, you have will to pick the Oppo F7 over the Lenovo S5. The Lenovo comes with a 5.7-inch size with a 18:9 aspect ratio.

In resolution, the Oppo F7 brightens your screen with a 1080 x 2280 pixels display and 405ppi density. While taking on a 1080 x 2160 pixels display and 424 ppi density is the Lenovo S5. And they both have the IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen. Personally, i like my smartphone having a big screen size. Which the Oppo F7 offers here than the Lenovo S5.

The Oppo F7 should be your choice if the picture quality of a smartphone matters a lot to you. The Oppo F7 primary focus is centered on camera. And the company even incorporated an AI technology into its camera. The device comes with a 16MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture and LED flash. At the front, a 25MP camera with f/2.0 aperture.

That said, it doesn’t mean the Lenovo S5 is bad in terms of camera quality. The Oppo F7 is just better. The Lenovo S5 has a dual 13MP rear camera with f/2.2 and dual-LED dual-tone flash. And a 16MP front camera with f/2.2 aperture.

Both the Lenovo S5 and Oppo F7 runs on the latest Android Operating system (Android 8.0 Oreo). The Lenovo S5 comes in two models. The 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM, which is expandable to 128 ROM by using the SIM2 slot. And the 3GB RAM with 32GB ROM. While the Oppo 7 also have two versions of internal storage. The 4GB RAM with 64GB ROM and the 6GB RAM with 128GB ROM. Both models internal storage can be expandable to 256GB through a dedicated microSD card slot.

Different hardware powers the two device. On the Oppo F7 we have a Mediatek Helio P60 chipset with Octa-core 2.0GHz processor and a Mali-G72 MP3 for graphics. While the Lenovo S5 is powered by Qualcomm MSM8953 Snapdragon 625 chipset with Octa-core 2.0GHz processor and a Adreno 506 graphics. The Oppo F7 will obviously be better in running heavy tasks.

The Oppo F7 have the better battery capacity, as it comes with a non-removable Li-Ion 3400 mAh battery. The 3400 mAh battery will last 24 hours on normal usage. While the Lenovo S5 gives you a non-removable Li-Po 3000 mAh battery that is still considerably okay.

You can get the Lenovo S5 for about $185 (N64,750). And the Oppo F7 for about $330 (N115,000).

Despite the Oppo F7 being a very good smartphone. The price difference between it and Lenovo S5 is significantly much. There is just little difference in battery capacity, hardware and camera quality. So going on a budget, i would take the Lenovo S5.
