LeEco is one of the numerous Chinese brands looking to expand beyond the Asian border and one of the few who has succeeded in such feat. LeEco which appears to have their hands in a range of tech product is now on our shores. The Chinese company which you probably never heard of is one of the Chinese household tech OEMs. The company’s high-end flagship LeEco Le Pro 3 is a premium high-end smartphone offered at a relatively lower price and another cheaper alternative which the LeEco Le S3.
Like one of its other smartphone product the LeEco Le Max Pro which stirred the tech world by offering one of the recent Snapdragon 820 processors of the time. The LeEco Le Pro 3 is a new smartphone that offers the similar powerful spec sheet as current high-end smartphone like Google Pixel. It offers same Android experience as other smartphones at least on paper at a relatively low price. One of the premium features is a dual Dolby Atmos audio stereo and a large battery life all in a metallic unibody. However, the LeEco Le Pro 3 is fitted at a mid-price range as well as other smartphone devices with the similar high-end offering at a low price like One Plus 3T, Moto Z and ZTE’s Axon 7.
DESIGN AND DISPLAY
LeEco Le Pro 3 has a nice looking aluminium unibody build which stamps its claim has a premium device along with a glossy appearance that makes handling feel very well comfortable. However, for a device in this price range, nothing less than a metallic build should be expected and its no surprise that the device sports one. The device will receive no pioneer design medal as it is somewhat similar to the One Plus 3 and Huawei Mate 9 from the protruding lens at the top of the antenna lines.
The metallic body has a glossy look which appeals to the phone’s aesthetics as well as below the screen capacitive buttons. The device is also exceptionally thin with a thickness of 7.5mm that makes the device very much easy to use combined with a weight of 175g that emphasizes its quality build. Like most device it has its fingerprint scanner at the back of the device below the camera at the top central part of the back panel.
The device sports a 5.5-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution full HD display which is pretty much on a low side considering the possibility of using the device in a virtual reality headset. This might blow up the individual pixels in close proximity considering the pixel density is at 403 ppi.
CPU, OS AND STORAGE
LeEco has a powerful Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 821 quad-core processor which is used in top high-end devices and clocks at 2.36GHz. This comes along with the Adreno 530 GPU which handles your graphic smoothly and efficiently. The LeEco Le Pro 3 runs an Android 6.0 which is upgradable to the recent Android 7.0 OS. The internal memory sits at 6GB with a 64GB inner storage space which is not expandable.
BATTERY AND CAMERA
You get an impressive 4070mAh which is capable of lasting up to two day on a full charge on extensive use along with quick charge 3.0 technology. The camera quality is quite good with a back camera of 16MP and a front camera that lies at 8MP.
