LG G7 ThinQ VS Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus – The clash of the old and new titans

LG G7 ThinQ VS Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus – The clash of the old and new titans. The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus was announced early this year and has been a strong competitor in the high-end market. The phone features almost all the specs you could think of from a smartphone. Only a few of Android-powered high-end smartphones could actually challenge the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus. And few of those smartphones is the new LG G7 ThinQ. LG obviously took their time before releasing this beauty, which is why it’s coming in the second quarter of 2018. And with its features and specifications, the smartphone is ready to challenge virtually all high-end phones in the market now.

The LG G7 ThinQ is a newbie to the market and how well it does against the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus will surely see it cement a spot in the market. Below is a detailed comparison between the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and LG G7 ThinQ.

The LG G7 ThinQ and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus features a front and back Corning gorilla glass 5 separated by an aluminum frame. The LG G7 ThinQ is lighter and slimmer to the Galaxy S9 Plus. The G7 ThinQ weighs 162 grams and measures 153.2 x 71.9 x 7.9 mm in dimensions. While the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus weighs 189 grams and 158.1 x 73.8 x 8.5 mm in dimensions.

While some users will criticize the LG G7 ThinQ for copying the iPhone X notch display. The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus comes in a distinctive front design with a curved screen. Both the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus and LG G7 ThinQ are water/dust proof with a certified IP68 rating. At the back of both devices, their dual rear camera and fingerprint sensor are aligned in the same way. The dual rear camera is at center, just above their fingerprint sensor. The LED flash of the LG G7 ThinQ is at the left-hand side of the camera. While the LED flash of the Galaxy S9 Plus is at the right-hand side of the camera.

Both smartphones offer varieties of body colors to choose from, which is good for users. The body colors available for the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus are Midnight Black, Coral Blue, Titanium Gray, Lilac Purple, Burgundy Red and Sunrise Gold. While the body colors available for the LG G7 ThinQ are New Platinum Gray, New Aurora Black, New Moroccan Blue and Raspberry Rose.

LG G7 ThinQ VS Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus – The Display

Thanks to the no top bezel of the LG G7 ThinQ, the phone features large screen just like the Galaxy S9 Plus. The main difference between the display of these two smartphones is the screen technology. Despite the LG G7 featuring a bright 1440 x 3120 pixels resolution, 564 PPI density and 19.5:9 aspect ratio, it still packs a 6.1 inch IPS LCD touchscreen. The touchscreen can’t be compared to the OLED screen technology that the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus houses.

The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus packs the OLED touchscreen, which is said to be the best touchscreen in the market right now. And not just an ordinary OLED screen, the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus packs a 6.2 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen. And features 1440 x 2960 pixels resolution, 18.5:9 aspect ratio with 529 PPI density.

But a rigorous test will be needed to finally conclude on that.

We know the Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus easily defeated the LG V30 in camera quality. The Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus scored 99 points in DxOMark ratings while the LG V30 scored 82 points. The Galaxy S9 Plus takes pride in its dual aperture found in the 12MP primary sensor. The dual f/1.5 and f/2.4 aperture switches between themselves automatically depending on light conditions. While the 12MP secondary sensor features a f/2.4 aperture. The camera system of the Galaxy S9 Plus features OIS, phase detection autofocus, 2x optical zoom and LED flash.
