Samsung Galaxy S Lite Luxury has been launched in China as a luxury smartphone with “midrange” specs. The device will also be known as Samsung Galaxy S8 Lite when it debuts in other countries.
As far as specs go, it seems like a watered down version of the Galaxy S8, there’s a super AMOLED bezel-less screen. Internally, there’s 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage, a standard battery capacity with support for fast and wireless charging. Lets find out more.
Design
The Galaxy S Lite sports the same aluminium alloy body on the S8 and covered exquisitely in glass. It looks exactly like the S8 from the back, except the heart rate sensor has been ditched. This brings the LED a little lower to align with the rear camera and fingerprint sensor.
These features are horizontal at their usual position, while the Samsung logo takes its place as well. Turning over to the sides, we can see Bixby has its dedicated button. It measures 8mm in thickness and weighs just 150g overall, which is really light. It’s available in Burgundy Red and Black Night colors.
Display
Just like the Galaxy S8, the new Galaxy S comes with the Infinity display as well, this stretches all the way to the sides as usual. The super minimal bezel at the top still managed to house some features like selfie camera and the rest.
Focusing on the curved display, the 5.8-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen is absolutely breathtaking. It has a resolution of 1080 x 2220 pixels and 426 pixel per inch density with Always-on display. The screen stretches up to 84.2% screen-to-body ratio.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood, Snapdragon 660 chip from Qualcomm is in control with an Octa-Core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 8-Cores of processor here runs at a fast pace of 2.2GHz with 14nm FinFET process technology. The Adreno 512 graphics processor controls graphics here.
It has just one version, the 4GB RAM space on the Galaxy S has a memory speed of 1.8GHz offering smooth multitasking. In the storage department, the 64GB storage space can be upgraded up to 400GB as well using a memory card. The Samsung Galaxy S Lite Luxury runs on Android 8.0 Oreo.
Camera
The 16MP rear camera here has f/1.7 aperture and 1.12µm pixel size. There’s phase detection autofocus, LED flash, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama and other features as well. It can shoot 4K@30fps, while the 8MP selfie camera has f/1.7 aperture, 25mm lens, 1/3.6″ sensor size, 1.22µm pixel size and autofocus.
Battery
Powering the Samsung Galaxy S Lite Luxury is a 3000mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with fast and wireless charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 1.8 hours.
