New leaks reveal Google’s Android TV Stick is powered by Amlogic S905X2 chipset

A new Android TV dongle is highly anticipated from Google this year. The device has been given the codename “Sabrina” and it has been making waves lately and as such, we already have some information on how the device will look. If you want to find out what is in the device, then you are in just the right place.

Thanks to a recent leak, we now know the specs of the Android TV dongle which surprisingly aren’t anything unusual. The leak on XDA-Developers reveals that the dongle will pack 2 GB of RAM and it will be powered by an Amlogic S905X2 SoC. The chipset is a quad-core processor with Cortex-A5 cores which run at a clock speed of 1.8GHz. It also has the Arm Mali-G31 MP2 GPU and is built on a 12nm node.

The Amlogic S905X2 chipset is quite popular among Android TV devices and set-top boxes. The chipset comes with support for 4K decoding (4Kp75) while being able to produce 4Kp60 over HDMI 2.1. Other features of the processor include HDR10, HLG, and Dolby Vision.

It was also revealed that the devices will pack a Broadcom BCM43569 Bluetooth+Wi-Fi chip. It will also pack a feature known as ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode). ALLM is a feature that enables Android TVs to automatically switch to game mode. What game mode does is minimize latency when you are gaming on a TV. With this feature, Sabrina will be able to automatically enable game mode on supported TVs. The presence of this feature leads many to believe the dongle will come with support for Google’s game streaming service, Stadia.

The leak also revealed some other details about Sabrina such as a Bluetooth remote with support for a long-press action for one of the keys. It is also believed that the remote will feature dedicated buttons for Netflix and YouTube.
