The Oppo Realme 1 comes in a premium design, at the back is a diamond-ish finish pattern and looks bold. While the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro features a rather plain metallic unibody. It isn’t bad though but just looks outdated while the Realme 1 offers a body that’s somewhat unique. Despite how bold the Oppo Realme 1 looks, it’s still lightweight compared to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The Oppo Realme 1 weighs just 155 grams and measures 7.8mm thick. While the weight of the Redmi Note 5 Pro is 181 grams with an 8.1mm thickness.

While the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro features an IPS LCD 5.99 inch touchscreen with 77.4% screen-to-body ratio. They both have an 18:9 aspect ratio and 1080 x 2160 pixels resolution. The Oppo Realme 1 features a 402 PPI density while the Redmi Note 5 Pro features a 403 PPI density. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro has a contrast ratio of 1500:1, which will see it offer sharp display to the Oppo Realme 1.

Under the curtain of the Redmi Note 5 Pro is Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset, which carries 8-core processor clocked at a speed of 1.8GHz. While the Oppo Realme 1 is powered by Mediatek Helio P60 chipset with Octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. The Snapdragon 636 chipset outperformed the Mediatek Helio P60 chipset in most benchmark test especially AnTuTu Benchmark.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro runs on MiUI 9.0 skin, which is overlaid on top of Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box. While the Oppo Realme 1 runs ColorOS 5.0 skin overlaid on top of Android 8.1 Oreo. While the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro features a bigger non-removable Li-Po 4000 mAh battery. The Redmi Note 5 Pro supports fast battery charging.

The Oppo Realme 1 cost about $154 (N53,900). The Realme 1 comes at a very affordable price and it’s cheaper than the Redmi Note 5 Pro that cost around $238 (N83,300). Kudos to Oppo for making the Realme 1 very cheap but it would have been great if it featured a fingerprint sensor or fast battery charging rather than none.
