Razer Phone to receive Android 8.1 Oreo in April

The Android Oreo is being highly anticipated by many users of the green little robot. The owners of the Razer Phone are part of this group, but the wait tends to end soon. Razer has announced that the upgrade is coming.

Confirmation came through the company’s Twitter where she stated that she will skip Android 8.0 and move directly to 8.1 Oreo. Check out:

No update changelog for Android 8.1 has been released. However, the basic new features of the new operating system version should certainly be included, including picture-in-picture, notification points in application icons, and other features.

The update will be available to everyone by the end of April, but if you’re anxious and do not care about using a beta system, you can download the Developer Preview version manually and install it on your device. This version has the security patch of February 5, 2018. If this is the same build that will be made available to the public, the system will already be two patches late.

Do you have a Razer Phone? What is your take on this?

  1. It’s good to see Razer being transparent about its update plans and even offering a preview of its Android 8.1 update for developers and eager Razer Phone owners that don’t mind dealing with some bugs in exchange for getting to try their Oreo update early.

  2. Keep in mind that flashing this factory will wipe all of the data on your Razer Phone and that, because this is pre-release software, the update will contain bugs.

  3. Also note that the Android 8.1 Developer Preview may not contain all carrier-specific features like VoLTE, enhanced voicemail, and Wi-Fi Calling support. Finally, there will be no over the air (OTA) updates for the official Android 8.1 Oreo release. So if you flash this Developer Preview, you will have to also manually flash the official Android 8.1 release when it becomes available.

  4. I’ve seen so any reviews about Razor smartphone and i love everything about this brand, but when is this device coming to Nigeria, is there any hope that we will have it here?
