Xiaomi launched it’s Redmi 8 smartphone, the successor of Redmi 7 on Wednesday i.e. 9th October 2019. You are going to find awesome specs like AI dual rear cameras, huge 5000mAH battery, 6.22 Dot Notch display, 18w fast charging support, USB-Type C port and much more. The phone has an “Auro Mirror design” at the back. Xiaomi launched Redmi 8 just after the few days of the lunch of Redmi 8A in the Indian market.
Redmi 8 Specifications & Features
Redmi 8 runs on MIUI 10 based on Android 9 Pie and features a 6.22 Dot Notch HD+ display. The phone’s display is protected by corning gorilla glass 5. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 Soc along with up to 4GB RAM.
Moving on to the camera department, the Redmi 8 has an AI dual rear camera setup at the back including a 12MP primary camera with Sony IMX363 image sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The camera supports features like AI Portrait and AI Scene Detection and capable of recognising 33 scenes categories, including 6 India-specific categories. On the front, you will find an 8MP Camera with Face Unlock feature.
The connectivity options include 4G Volte, Wi-Fi, GPS/A-GPS, infrared, wireless FM radio, USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack. The phone has a fingerprint sensor mounted at the rear side.
The Phone runs on huge high capacity 5000mAh battery that supports 18w fast charging tech. The battery works with various AI optimisations to save battery. Though the phone supports 18w fast charge, you will find a 10W charger out of the box.
Redmi 8 Price
The phone is available in two storage options- 3GB RAM + 32GB Storage & 4GB RAM + 64GB Storage. The base variant has been priced at Rs 7999 and the increased storage variant will be priced at Rs 8999. Redmi 8 will be available in three colour options- Onyx Black, Ruby Red, and Sapphire Blue.
As said by the Xiaomi India chief Manu Kumar Jain during the live stream, the first 5 million units of Redmi 8 4GB RAM variant will be available at the price of the 3GB RAM variant i.e. Rs 7999. Manu also said that the customers who order the 3GB RAM variant will get upgraded to the 4GB RAM variant.
Redmi 8 will go on sale from 12th October through Mi.com, Mi Home stores, and Flipkart.
