Samsung Ensures Foldable Smartphones Are the Future

Samsung was the first manufacturer to openly disclose its plans to develop a collapsible smartphone. However, since it did in 2013, it always came down to the idea that this would be a virtually impossible idea to achieve.

There have been many patents and prototypes that over the past six years have been fueling the hopes of enthusiasts of this new generation of smartphones. But until recently, there were more who discredited this possibility than those who supported it.

Now, everything points to 2019 as the ‘year of folding smartphones’. With several manufacturers betting on this new technology, Samsung states beyond a doubt that “folding smartphones are the future.”

Samsung has no doubt about the success of folding smartphones

According to a Samsung executive, Hark-sang Kim, developing a new design format for smartphones comes to solve a major dilemma. The relationship between portability and screen size on smartphones.

Kim reveals that the manufacturer believes there will be a major change in the traditional format of smartphones over the next few years. Highlighting that ‘scrollable’ and flexible devices are no longer part of our imagery, and have become conceivable projects.

In addition, the same executive says that Samsung is poised to be a major contributor to this revolution in the smartphone market. “Creating meaningful experiences for your users to help them do more of the things they love.”

However, there were major barriers that needed to be overcome. From the strength of the folding screen to the way the hardware components are integrated into the smartphone.

But, it seems that Samsung has already managed to overcome all these barriers. Once, it will introduce its first foldable smartphone already on February 20. But even though folding smartphones might be the future. It should take a few years for this new format to be globally implemented as the default format.
