Samsung, the fastest selling mobile smartphone brand, has launched the Samsung Galaxy C5 and are already accepting pre-orders for the device.

The Samsung Galaxy C5, which is an Android phone, was released by the Korean tech giant in China same day with the Samsung Galaxy C7.

Design and Display of the Samsung Galaxy C5

The Samsung Galaxy C5 has a slender metal body which is just 6.7mm thick. The smartphone comes with a 5.2-inch super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen display with a screen resolution of 1080pixel.

The phone comes in four different colour variants, namely; Silver, Gray, Gold, and Rose Gold.

Performance

The entire set up is powered by a Snapdragon 617 (Octa-Core 1.5GHz Cortex-A53 CPU, Adreno 405 GPU) processor. The Galaxy C5, just like its bigger brother – Samsung Galaxy C7, comes with a fingerprint reader which is located at the Home button below the screen and actually functions as both an Home button and a fingerprint scanner.

The Samsung Galaxy C5 is a dual-SIM phone, but one of the SIM slots is actually a hybrid slot so you can fit a microSD instead.

Camera, Storage, and OS

The mid-range Samsung Galaxy C5 prides itself in having a 16 Mega pixel rear camera and a 8 Mega Pixel camera up front. The device also has an LED flash for the rear camera.

The Galaxy C5 comes with a 4GB RAM size while the device comes in two ROM sizes. One version sports a 32GB internal memory while the other version sports a 64GB ROM. Te internal memory is expandable with a microSD card up to 128GB.

Also, the smartphone runs on Android’s latest Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow Operating system.

Other Features

Additional connectivity includes 4G LTE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and NFC (with Samsung Pay support). The entire device will be powered by a 2,600mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery.

Price and Availability

The Galaxy C5 has been scheduled to start selling on June 6 even though pre-orders have been on for a while now in China.

The 32GB Samsung Galaxy C5 sells for CNY 2,200 ($335/€300) and the 64GB version sells for CNY 2,400 ($370/€330).

The Samsung Galaxy C5 is not yet available outside of China, including Nigeria but when it starts shipping to Nigeria, Ghana or Kenya, the price for both versions will likely be between N70,000 and N90,000 in Nigeria (40,000-60,000 Kenyan shilling).
