Tecno M5 is a more affordable variant of the top of the line Tecno M series. It keeps most of the great features of the popular Tecno M3 released in early in 2013. The Tecno M5 combines perfect functionality and affordable price, it features a 4.5-inch touch-screen, runs on Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean), has 1GB of RAM, 8 MP rear camera with a front VGA camera.
The Design & Screen
The design of the Tecno M5 does not look that fantastic, it is made for entry-level users. It sports a plastic cover that protects it from moisture and dust and makes the phone more comfortable to carry in hand. The mid-range device measures a dimension of 135.6 x 68.3 x 10.5mm and weighs 130g.
It has a 4.5-inch TFT capacitive display consisting of 256,000 colors and shades. The display resolution maxes out at 480 x 854 pixels and has a resolution density of about 218 ppi.
The Camera
The device sports an 8MP rear snapper. The camera captures images at a maximum resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels that captures motion at 720P resolution. The Tecno M5 also has an LED flash a few millimeters below the camera for low light shooting. It however has a 1.3MP front facing camera.
Hardware and Software
Under the hood of the Tecno M5 comes a 1.3 GHz dual-core Cortex-A7 processor aided with a 1GB of RAM. This is almost double to what the amount found on the Tecno M3. Therefore, you should expect a significant surge in the performance of the Tecno M5.
Apps launch extremely fast on the device, and there is seamless multitasking between running Apps.
The Tecno M5 has 4GB of internal memory of which a paltry 1GB is available to user that can be upgraded up to 32 GB via microSD card slot. The phone runs Android 4.2.2 OS out of the box.
Raising the hardened plastic rear cover will reveal a super 1,800MAh Li-Ion battery which is impressive for a device in its price group.
