Vivo to launch Vivo S series phone soon in India; features up to 8 GB of RAM

According to recent reports, Vivo India is currently planning to introduce its Z and S series in India. In fact, Vivo is expected to unveil the Vivo Z1 Pro in India before the month runs out. The Z series is expected to be targeted towards online markets while the S series should be aimed towards offline markets. Citing information made available through its sources, 91mobiles has revealed some vital details of the first S-series phone that is to be launched in India. According to the publication, the phone will feature up to 8 GB of RAM and will come in the sub-Rs. 25,000 price category.

It also says that the first Vivo S phone will come in two variants including 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variants. The 6 GB model will come with a price tag less than Rs. 20,000 while the 8 GB variant will have a starting price of about Rs. 25,000. Vivo will be mainly focusing on the design and style aspects of the Vivo S series rather than specs.

Other Chinese firms such as Xiaomi and Realme are aggressively targeting the offline markets. Earlier this year Samsung launched the A-series to win the offline audience. Vivo will face competition from these brands in the offline markets when it releases devices from the upcoming S-lineup. However, we do not know the name of the first phone from the S series yet.

So far, Vivo has launched only two phones from the S series in China and they are the Vivo S1 and Vivo S1 Pro. The Vivo S1 which was launched in China back in April comes with up to 6 GB RAM and up to 128 GB of built-in storage. It sports a 6.53-inch IPS LCD display with a notch-less design. It also has a fingerprint sensor mounted on the rear. The phone is powered by the MediaTek Helio P70 processor. It also packs a 3940mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging via micro USB 2.0.

The Vivo S1 Pro, on the other hand, was launched in May and it comes with a 6.39-inch S-AMOLED screen and in-screen fingerprint reader. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 675 chipset supported with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. On the rear is a triple camera setup featuring 48 MP + 8 MP + 5 MP cameras.
