Vivo Y97 Review – Mid-Range Device, Full HD+ Display and 128GB ROM

Vivo has worked on another smartphone that has been receiving a measure of attention online for about a month now. It is known as Vivo Y97 and the release period for this mobile phone is September 2018.

There are other Y series from Vivo but our attention is turned on the Vivo Y97 device, of which we are going to give as much detail as we have as of now. Let’s start with the design and display specifications, thereafter we’ll move on to other areas such as camera, hardware, and connectivity features.

Vivo Y97 Design and Display

Y97 comes with a 6.3-inch full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2280 pixels. It is equipped with a water-drop style notch Super AMOLED feature. It has a strong resemblance to its competitors Vivo V11 Pro, Oppo R17 Pro, and Oppo F9 Pro.

It features an all-glass exterior and the device comes in two colors; blue and pink. There may be additional colors added later. It also comes with an in-display fingerprint sensor.

Camera Setup for Vivo Y97

This smartphone arrives with dual rear camera setup. It comprises a 16 MP primary and a 2 MP secondary sensor. However, the selfie camera is the big attraction. It comes in 16 MP sensor.

All these cameras are backed with a powerful camera UI with the inclusion of a variety of modes and dedicated features. The rear camera is equipped with LED flash capabilities.

Hardware and Performance

There are powerful components to make the Vivo Y97 a speedy and highly reliable smartphone. Some of these are the MediaTek Helio P60 S0C Octa-core chipset. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box which will definitely be able to upgrade to the latest Android Pie. Most likely it is also equipped with Vivo Funtouch OS UI layer etched on top.

The storage capacity is 4GB RAM and a whopping 128GB of internal storage. No doubt, this offers lots of space to store files, apps, and videos, while allowing the device to run optimally despite the demands. We still can’t verify the presence of a microSD card for this device.

Battery Life and Connectivity

Vivo V11 is very much identical to the Vivo Y97 but something so different about the two is the battery life. The Vivo Y97 is empowered by a 3240 mAh battery. Even if the Vivo Y97 pales in comparison to V11 when it comes to battery power, this specification shows that it is still a reasonable deal.

For connectivity, Y97 has the latest Bluetooth accessory 5.0, Wi-Fi 802. 11 b/g/n/ac, 3.5mm headphone jack, A-GPS, and a USB type C port.

Launch Date and Expected Price

There are two dates for the possibility of unveiling the Vivo Y97 smartphone. The first date is September 9 and the second is the 20th of same month. The speculated 20th September date is said to be possible at an event in China. For now, we are not sure of which of these dates is the real one.

Whatever the case may be, this mid-range smartphone is priced at 1,898 Yuan, which is about 19,998 Rupees. This is about $280 and that’s at a price cheaper than that of V11 Pro and when you think about the scaled back components found on Vivo Y97, they really justify the pricing.
