Although Apple itself has not said anything about a successor to the iPhone SE, the company would soon launch the iPhone SE 2, according to several case makers at the Global Sources Mobile Electronics Show in Hong Kong. According to the case manufacturers, it could be that far next month.
No notch, but a fingerprint scanner
Where all new iPhones and many Android devices are under the spell of the notch, the iPhone SE 2 would not have fallen under the spell of the cove and still do its own thing. The smartphone would still come with a fingerprint scanner, which probably comes to the front. That will probably lead to a 4-inch display with decent edges at the top and bottom.
Wireless charging, but no headphone jack
Where the iPhone SE 2 Apple’s new design line would follow, is in the dumping of the headphone jack and the aluminum casing of the original iPhone SE. At the back, the successor would be equipped with glass, which suggests that the device will also be able to be charged wirelessly. Furthermore, the phone would come with the A10 Fusion chipset of the iPhone 7 and not with the very latest A11 Bionic chip.
iPhone SE 2 next month or during WWDC?
The question is whether the case makers are right and Apple is already launching the iPhone SE 2 next month. If the device really does arrive, it’s more likely that Apple will choose to unveil the phone in early June at its Worldwide Developers Conference 2018 in California.
