Launched in 2016, the Xiaomi Mi Box was the predecessor of the Mi Box 4k or the latest Mi TV Stick. I remember that this device, very good at the time it hit the market, initially came with the Android operating system Marshmallow. However, it came to be realized that Android Nougat skipped and went directly to the Oreo. Sometime later, while the Mi Box S version was entitled to Android Pie, the original had not received anything else. However, everything has changed and Xiaomi is already offering the long-awaited update from Android Pie to the Mi Box. However, for now, it is only in the hand of beta testers.
Xiaomi Mi Box has just received the awaited update!
The initial public beta version (version R2810) was developed for the MDZ-16-AB model and is about 620MB. The list of changes is strangely very small. However, we learn that in addition to Android Pie, support for the Mi Remote app also arrives.
It is not yet known when the stable version will be released. What is certain is that it will be the third major Android update for this TV Box. This is impressive considering that we are talking about a really cheap device.
Considering the similarities between the Mi Box and the Mi Box S, we hope that the Android Pie beta arrives with all the fixes that have meanwhile been coming to Android Pie.
I remember that the original Mi Box supports 4K video playback at 60fps, thanks to the Amlogic quad-core chipset that joins the Mali 450 graphics card and 2GB of memory. Dolby Digital Plus is also supported.
Xiaomi always shows great concern for its products and this is reflected in all updates that it is launching. In fact, providing an update for a device that was launched in 2016 is undoubtedly something to point out!

I’m forced to unplug and replug the power cable each time.
