The CEO of Xiaomi has already confirmed that there are new smartphones coming soon and they are coming at the very first quarter of 2020. The Xiaomi Redmi 9 is one of those. Though the phone is not top-notched, the specs are already above average. That shows that this device is not an entry level smartphone. Many of the specifications say yes.

Xiaomi Redmi 9 Design
The design of is pretty much like Mi 9 that we have seen. Just a few features in design and body look different. At the rear, there is a textured cover, and right there as well, there is space for two cameras, while one camera is situated to the front.
Display
First thing to notice is the water drop notch. The smartphone is not that large, just 6.6 inches. The display pixel resolution is 1080 x 2340. The IPS LCD touchscreen technology is very good. We already know that this phone is not an entry level smartphone. Looking further, there is 409 PPI, and 19.5:9 display ratio for this Xiaomi Redmi 9.
Processor
MediaTek Helio 70G is found in the device as the chipset. This is still a rare gem. Surely, the company has a few surprises for fans. This may be one. The CPU is Octa-core 1.8 GHz and no word yet on the process technology. Furthermore, the GPU working along with these is said to be capable of superb performance. The user can be assured of being able to multi-task with ease, for that won’t slow the phone down.
Storage
Xiaomi Redmi 9 has good storage. It is not to be regarded as laid back because this is a budget smartphone. Storage is very simple with the external storage opportunity mind-blowing to some extent. The RAM is 4 GB, while the internal storage is 64 GB. Meanwhile, the phone has 512 GB of internal storage. This combination is rare.
Battery
Xiaomi Redmi 9 has a 5000 mAh non-removable Li-Po battery. I can’t tell if it will have both wireless and fast charging features. However, with what I know, this is more than two days of full use without needing a charge, if the phone has previously been fully charged.
Speaker and Call Quality
The Xiaomi Redmi 9 supports video and music player. The 3.5mm jack makes it possible for the user to connect to the speakers and headphones. Of course, the video calling feature allows you to call someone and watch the person live while being able to hear the other party’s voice clear from the other side.
Software Features & Sensors
True, Xiaomi Redmi 9 is Android 9.0 Pie empowered. We don’t know whether the phone will upgrade its firmware to Android 10 in the future. In addition to that, the sensors are fingerprint (which is rear-mounted), accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity, and light.
Camera, Video, and Image Quality
Camera composition is as follows at the rear 13 MP, and 5 MP at the rear – but 8 MP at the front. It has features such as auto flash, HDR, face detection, autofocus, touch focus, panorama and others in the camera department. Video recording in the smartphone is a simple 1080p@30fps. LED flash promises better photos when the atmosphere is gloomy.
Xiaomi Redmi 9 Price
The price of Xiaomi Redmi 9 at the present time is not official yet, as the company didn’t make a formal announcement. However, it is expected that the phone sells for $125.98. That’s about N47,000 in Nigeria.
Verdict
This is a good smartphone. It won’t set the pace in 2024 but it is here to compete in its own small way. I love the water drop notch angle, the large storage capacity, the powerful battery. That’s what some rugged phones have and though the Redmi 9 is not rugged, this battery side of things appear rugged. Lastly, I have to admit that though we don’t know how many colors this device will come, it is no doubt a beautiful phone and just the appearance will attract anyone to it.
