Acer Switch 3 made its first debut recently in the United States. A good laptop for so many reasons – price, detachable, thin and light build. Are you looking for an affordable laptop with excellent specifications, then look no further than the Acer switch 3. Acer Switch 3 feels much like a surface pro book with specs of a Chromebook. May be cheap but it is not a regular laptop either, and you can get it at the price of a mid-range system. The 2-in-1 laptop is perfect for its excellent build quality and great screen display.

Build and Display

Acer switches 3 is a hybrid PC that is highly mobile and portable. It is indeed a well-crafted build that can be used for work or entertainment purpose. Acer Switch 3 is crafted from premium materials, and the machine measures 10 mm thickness and weighs not up to 2.9 pounds. As a detachable tablet PC, its keyboard can as well be a screen cover. The keyboard is stylish, magnetic and comfy. The full-size keyboard makes switching from laptop and tablet effortless. There is enough spacing between the keys which makes typing easier and more comfortable and the touchpad on the keyboard is precise as well.

Acer switch 3 has a 12,2-inch Full HD display with big bezels. The bezel helps to give space to hold and firmly grip the slate, especially when detached from its keyboard. With a display resolution of 1920 x 1200, it is a feast for the eyes. Imaging is crisp and has realistic colours which make movie experience surprising to users. The IPS technology allows viewing angles of 175-degrees. Overall the screen is above average.

Acer Switch 3 Performance

Moving on to the rest of Acer Switch 3 features, the machine runs on 1.1Ghz Intel Pentium N4200  Quad core processor (that can burst up to 2.5ghz). Pentium is not the super-fast core i3 or i5 that you know, but it can still get the work done. The processor may not be good for some high-end games but, it is okay for the fact that it consumes less power. Moreover, coupled with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, the machine can be more productive. No extreme heat even when you can hit its full 2.5 GHz speed. Overall, it has an average performance. Rather good for a device in this range.

The battery, on the other hand, can live up to 8 hours. The machine has 2-cell Li-Ion 4670 mAh capacity. Acer Switch 3 is designed to last all day and hence explain the lower power consuming processor used.

Other Miscellaneous Features

You can work creatively on your Acer hybrid tablet with the Active Pen provided. The active pen can be used to capture perfect ideas effortlessly in a more natural way. You can simply take note of it and also draw. Acer Switch 3 runs on Windows 10 home.  You can Skype with the 2 MP front facing the camera and take pictures using the 5 MP rear camera. Acer Switch comes out of the box with a USB type-c port, a type A USB port and a Micro SD card reader, as well as the charging port. There is also Bluetooth and Wi-Fi 802.11 ac.

Availability and Price

The Switch 3 is a bit costlier than other laptops in the mid-range segment equipped with an atom based processor, but it is pocket-friendly however. The tablet PC is priced at $449. It is currently available in some regions, US, the UK among others. In Nigeria, it costs N166, 130 and you can get it from online stores.
