The Alcatel 1 has been unveiled by the company as a brutal low-end smartphone. This is coming just months after Alcatel released a bunch of affordable devices during the 2018 Mobile World Congress.
The Alcatel 1 is a budget-friendly smartphone that runs on Android 8.0 Oreo Go Edition. It has 1GB RAM which is more than enough to multitask through the Go apps. It supports 4G LTE and packs 8GB Internal storage space.
Design
The device sports a plastic rear cover, it has curved sides and edges from the back and looks almost identical to other smartphones in the 1 series. The rear camera and LED are in a vertical position at the top left corner.
There’s no fingerprint scanner anywhere on the device, the 3.5mm jack is on top, while the USB port is underneath. It measures 9.8mm in thickness and weighs 134g overall. It’s available in Black, Blue, and Gold colors.
Display
The screen on this affordable smartphone dishes out an 18:9 aspect ratio. However, there are more bezels on the front than what you would typically expect from a phone with the trending screen.
The 5-inch FWVGA+ IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen boasts of 960 x 480 pixels in resolution and displays normal visuals. It has 195 pixel per inch density and should bring out your videos pretty nicely.
Hardware and Software
Running through the tasks underneath is the MediaTek MT6739 chip which was built on a 28nm process technology. The chipset has quad-core processor which clocks at a smooth speed of 1.28GHz, while the PowerVR GE8100 graphics processor clocks at 570 MHz.
For multitasking, there’s just 1GB of RAM space available and a memory speed of 533MHz. There’s 8GB storage space available to accommodate files and apps. You can expand the storage space using a memory card. It runs on Android 8.0 Oreo Go Edition.
Camera
It’s equipped with a rear 5MP camera that comes with a dual-LED flash and other Internal features like autofocus geo-tagging, touch focus etc. While the 2MP selfie camera handles selfies.
Battery
Powering the Alcatel 1 is a 2000mAh non-removable Li-Ion battery with no fast charging technology. Without the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% might take up to 2 hours.
