Australia’s NBN Completes Its Own 5G Tests

The Australian National Broadband Network (NBN) does not seem to be worried about the competition going on among companies that want to take the lead in offering 5G internet to the world.

The company has reported revenue going up 50 percent to $620 million USD alongside a 65 percent improvement in earnings. The CEO said he is not concerned at if his establishment loses market share once 5G internet arrives. One reason is because the company itself has finished testing things up regarding its own 5G internet.

At the moment, NBN competes with 4G offering but the companies like other tech firms understand that right now, one of the hottest topics in the industry is how 5G will impact companies like NBN worldwide. In view of this, the team at NBN is well aware of 5G developments and the potentials that come with the advent of the network.

The team keeps an eye on the impact of wireless competition and has built it into the corporate plan forecast. Probably, the management will even consider how to profit immensely when 5G arrives.

NBN is planning on having its 5G internet network roll out fully in 2024. Meanwhile, some companies in the UK will have their own network launch in early parts of 2019. However, NBN will find a way to compete equitably for market share in 2024.

At the present time, NBN is facing competition from high-speed 4G mobile broadband. But the team at NBN believes strongly that fixed-line networks will always take a strong hold and will carry the vast majority of traffic in Australia. In 2017, Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) has it that only three percent of mobile networks tore through the traffic.

5G and fixed-line, NBN believes, will over the long term be the complementary networks, making life easy for users.

Furthermore, NBN has completed its own 5G tests with Ericsson. What took place during the tests may be made available soon to members of the public. The company is resolved to stay put till there is higher demand for deployment of higher-speed services.
