The all new BLU R1 HD 2018 has been introduced by the company quietly as the device popped up on popular online store Amazon. The R1 HD 2018 is the upgraded version of the BLU R1 HD that was introduced by the company in 2016.

Design
Like I mentioned above, the R1 HD 2018 sports an aluminium alloy overall unibody and the back is non-removable. This is definitely an upgrade to the 2016 version that was released. It also sports dual curved antenna lines that makes the rear really attractive.
The rear camera and LED flash are vertical at the top middle with no fingerprint scanner at the rear. Turning over to the sides, we can see the volume keys and power button as it measures 7.6mm in thickness and weighs 160g. It’s available in Black and Gold colors.
Display
The device isn’t bezel-less as the company didn’t want to include this to their list of bezel-less smartphones. However, it comes with a “HD” screen and a physical home button at the bottom bezel which doubles as the fingerprint scanner.
The 5.2-inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen is pretty standard, boasting of 1280 x 720 pixels in resolution and 282 pixel per inch density delivering the usual visuals from a device in its price range. Disappointingly, the screen could only stretch up to 71% screen to body ratio.

Hardware and Software
Under the hood is the MediaTek MT6750 chip with an octa-core processor and 64-bit CPU architecture. The 8-Cores of processor here reaches a standard speed of 1.5GHz with 28nm process technology. In the graphics department, the ARM Mali-T860 MP2 graphics processor comes with 2-Cores and clocks at 520MHz.
For multitasking, 2GB RAM Space is available for scrolling through apps and file. The RAM space has a memory speed of 667MHz as well, while the storage space is 16GB strong and ready to accommodate files. You can expand the storage space up to 64GB with a memory card. It runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with modified user interface.
Camera
The 13MP rear camera comes with a LED flash and capture photographs with 4160 x 3120 pixels in dimension. With the camera, you can easily do Autofocus, Continuous shooting, Digital zoom, Exposure compensation and other features as well. For selfies, there’s a 5MP selfie camera.

Battery
Powering the BLU R1 HD 2018 is a 2800mAh non-removable Li-Po battery with no fast charging technology. But even without the fast charging feature, it shouldn’t take up to 2.2 hours to fully charge up the battery from 0% to 100%.
