Boeing 737, getting closer to the truth about the accident

No one talks about anything else for more than a month. It is still yellow about the incident involving an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 Max. That tragic March 10, just six minutes after the take-off from Addis Ababa airport, the plane disappeared from the radar. In the crash 157 people have died, whose families are now trying to find out the truth.

It would now seem overwhelming that the person responsible is the brand  new anti-stalling systemManeuvering Characteristics Augmentation System” (MCAS) which the aircraft was equipped with. The system made necessary by some differences in the center of gravity compared to the previous model. Given the similarities with another accident that occurred months earlier, it probably would have been avoided.

In October, in fact, 189 people had lost their lives on flight JT610, still on board the same model of aircraft. Sources inside the investigation would have discovered that the MCAS system was configured to hold the nose down.

Boeing 737 Max, the causes of the accident

The first clues come to us from the black boxes of the aircraft. They would in fact have been analyzed, finding a registration between pilot and control tower. The pilot, aware of problems of maneuverability of the aircraft, would have immediately alerted the tower, making a specific request. In order to try to gain room to maneuver, he would in fact have asked to take share.

The MCAS anti-stall system is a very advanced system, necessary on the Boeing 737 Max. In fact, due to the need for design, the two engines (larger and more powerful) are placed higher than the wings, thus generating a change in the center of gravity. This change would make the aircraft difficult to fly without this aid. However, due to a defect in the code, it would not have been possible for the pilot to disarm it, thus causing the terrible accident.

From the black boxes, in fact, it emerged that the pilot struggled for six minutes trying to disarm the system, without being able to do it in time.

Boeing 737, a strong economic loss for the company

After yet another incident, the 737 Max was officially declared unsafe. In fact, many European countries have banned airspace from this aircraft. First of all, Great Britain.

It would seem instead that in the United States, home of the Boeing manufacturing company, through a code modification, the 737 Max is authorized to fly. In addition to this, a specific training course for pilots and crew members was necessary.

In addition, the aircraft in the coming days should return to the FAA lens for a thorough technical examination, before issuing or not issuing a new certification for the flight adjustment system.

It must be said that the stop of the aircraft in various parts of the world has cost the company well 1.4 billion dollars, destined then to increase if we consider the compensation to the families of the victims.
